I'm in Canada and I had to pay an extra 22$ when it got here today. People in some other countries are getting it worse though, someone in the comments in the kickstarter page mentioned having to pay 58$ extra.

I really should have pre-ordered this off amazon, or just ignored it altogether.

EDIT: Not complaining about it, just wanted to let others know to expect it.

I fail to see how Ouya could have done anything to prevent this?
After all, the sender does not decide who has to pay customs and who don't. At least not here in Denmark.
Packages sent to Denmark can be randomly chosen by the customs department. If chosen, you'll have to pay the bill in order to receive your product.

But yeah, even though I hope that I will not end up having to pay anything, I cannot see how we could blame Ouya for this?

Agreed, but customers need to be aware of this fact so they can choose better buying options that are within their budget.

True. It's wise to find out what customs might charge you in your country, and whether there's a threshold value before they start charging ($50, $100, $1000, etc).

Okay, if someone gets charged one-thousand dollars for a two pound imported order with crappy estimated shipping rates; I will crap myself, lol.

And yes, I know it was a example.

Not using DHL (UPS would have been worse) would have been a good start.
