    OUYAstarter: Awesome looking games that need your support

    There are few worse feelings than seeing an awesome game on Kickstarter and realizing that it probably won't make its goal... Especially when it's either promised for OUYA or has OUYA as a stretch goal. So when I run across one I'll add it here, and then you can support it or at least try and share it with others who might...

    I have not followed the game specifically but keep calm, the last day usually raises a lot of money.

    Also: good idea to advertise!

    This game has actually been mentioned a few times on these boards, but I don't think anyone ever pointed out the Kickstarter... Which is why I figured I should... :-)

    I know what you mean. It also bothers me a bit when I see highly polished indie games on Kickstarter that'd be a perfect match on the Ouya and yet the platform isn't even mentioned in the campaign details. Ouya is supposed to be THE console for indie gaming, so it's a bit disconcerting how certain indie devs don't even mention Ouya as a stretch goal.

    But your post does give me an idea. Maybe we should create an Ouya lobby group or something of the sort. It would be comprised of Ouya enthusiasts and basically we could draw the attention of the community towards Ouya projects and perhaps even non-Ouya projects with the potential to be persuaded into supporting it. But of course the community would have to be sufficiently large enough to possess any real leverage. Maybe somewhere around at least 10,000.

    We could create an active directory of game projects in which members would be encouraged to direct funds towards. Maybe it's all wishful thinking, but it'd be something in line with the "community driven" theme of the Ouya. It'd be pretty cool if the community could play a big role in determining which games eventually make it onto the platform.

    just a thought.

    On one hand, I'm surprised how many DO mention OUYA, but on the other, I'm surprised how many mention Android but NOT OUYA. I think a lot of devs are sensitive to the fact that Kickstarter and OUYA are inextricably linked in people's minds. But for the one's who don't realize that, I suggest that any OUYA owner who funds a video game on Kickstarter ask for an OUYA port in the comments. Anything you (or anyone else) can do to encourage that is awesome.

    Android = Ouya = Android

    Any differences are control and payment API related for the most part, plus porting to Ouya doesn't incur any additional expense to the dev bar their time to make the changes, so expect lots and lots of unannounced games appearing out of nowhere

    I understand that, but I've seen devs talk like it's a separate thing. So unless it's specifically stated I'm not going to go getting my hopes up.

    Android gaming has a really bad reputation. For developers, OUYA need to emphasise it is Android (and thus easy to port / make games for, with loads of existing software, an open platform etc etc). However, for gamers, they need to disassociate themselves with the (perceived) crappy quality shovelware on Google Play

    That's pretty cool idea, but as you point out, it needs a certain level of people to make it worthwhile, otherwise it's just a few hardcore people constantly banging the drum in the ears of people who don't care (because they don't have an OUYA!)

    I think maybe one to sit on until the OUYA actually launches. Remember, indies like to develop for the platforms they game on and have devices for themselves. As more indies buy an OUYA, more will in turn develop for it

    Race The Sun
    This games got less that 4 days to go on its Kickstarter, and needs a push to get it funded. The browser based demo for it was great, and more importantly, I like the sound of the developer, and I think he'd be a good fit for the system. (Flippfly Votes...Good Thinking)

    On a different note, excited to see Heroes of Steel just squeak over the $20k mark.
