Into the Shadows - Dogbot Studios

We have just released "Into the Shadows", a Dungeon Crawl Action RPG by Dogbot Studios.

This is our company's first ever original title and we're super proud of it! We're planning on making a ton of free updates with all the things we didn't get in post launch, as well as more content.

All of the Dungeons are procedurally generated. Quest stories and weapons are semi-procedural as well.

A large emphasis is placed on getting gold and loot from the Dungeons to buy better weapons, shields, and spells. We're hoping to release free updates that will improve variability in combat, scenery, and mission types.

You can download the game here: https://www.ouya.tv/game/Into-the-Shadows/

    Here are some pictures:

We'd love to hear your feedback!

Been playing this game for hours last night, it is quite fun! Already bought it. One question though, is there any new dungeon designs, or do they all look the same (in terms of aesthetics).

Thanks Kaimega! That's awesome, Thank you!

In terms of aesthetics, the current version only contains those environment graphics and clutter. We are currently hard at work on making updates for the coming weeks that will include a greater variety of aesthetics.

I will say as you level, newer enemies will appear and more weapon types become available.

Ah good you've taken up my invite from Reddit. Welcome to the best & largest OUYA Community on the Internet!

Just waiting for the wife to stop hogging the TV then I'll be all over this. From what I saw whilst at work, this looks like a game I will most certainly be purchasing (I love these types of games). I need a new game to play and this appears like it will fit the bill perfectly!

My only issue was that the thumbstick lagged hard during the tutorial, but everything else was fine. After I got out of the first dungeon, and into the second, the thumbstick was fine.

Hmm. Haven't experienced that before but I might have a clue as to why it's happening. I'll put a ticket in the bug database to investigate it further. Thanks!

I like this game. However, there are a couple things that I am bothered by:

*Keep in mind that I've only played the demo. Some of my comments may not accurately reflect on the rest of the game after that point*

    1. I don't like that the level doesn't reset when you die. I assume that you did this because otherwise you could just grind a low level dungeon and dominate the rest of the game, but it takes away a lot of the challenge in the game. As it is now, you can just die repeatedly and keep running back to where you died with no consequence.

    2. I like the controls and the gameplay for the most part, but their doesn't seem to be much nuance in the combat. You can't really block or dodge melee attacks as far as I can tell, so when you try to attack a close-range enemy, you're basically trading hits until one of you dies. This makes the game more about your stats than about your skill.

    3. Obviously it could use some different dungeon settings. (Let me say that the art style is beautiful, especially for the main character. Maybe I'm just a sucker for that hand drawn motif but I love it.)

    4. I think it could also use some more complexity in the dungeons. I assume you find new enemies as you progress, and the traps are nice, but the first two levels at least feel very simple. You enter a room, kill some enemies, avoid a trap, get a key, open a door, and repeat. It would be nice to have some very simple puzzles, or specific types of keys that open specific doors, etc.

All that said, I am really enjoying the game and I am going to buy it. It just needs some detail and polish and I think you've got something great here.
