    Fan Issue

I dusted off my Ouya after a significant amount of time. I started it up and had some issues getting the latest update. Not because of the wireless, but because of the screen going all sorts of bizarre colors. I tried multiple outlets for power, different HDMI cords, and even different TVs. All the same result. I then noticed the fan wasn't spinning. I had a couple USB fans that kept it cool enough to get through the update. After the update I tried again with using the Ouya. Went a little longer before having a vomit of colors appear on the screen. This is when I decided to take my Ouya apart. The fan at no point was spinning. I assumed the fan had died. I then did some research on the internet and came across the Noctua NF-A4x10. I assembled the Ouya with the new fan and went to turn it on. Same thing, the fan would not spin. I hooked the fan up to make sure it was functional and yes the fan indeed worked fine out of the box.

The only thing I can think of, is that my power to the board for my fan is not operating effectively. I contacted Ouya and they wanted to do an RMA. Unfortunately because the Noctua NF-A4x10 does not come with the connector I foolishly cut the OEM Ouya fan and I have no means of repairing it.

The only thing I can think of it hooking up a separate power source to the fan to have it run at all times while on the Ouya. If anyone has any comments, ideas, ANYTHING! I would be more than appreciative.

    Thanks in advance.

Just use the extra omni join adapters that came with it to put the old fan back on

i would probably just send it back with original fan and (maybe) they won't even mess with it.
Sometimes it costs techs more to service it, than to replace it

    Just a thought.

But I would more than likely re solder original connections, then send it back.
That way if they DO fix it, you have the fan you bought as a backup
