Using Kainy for PC emulators -- anyone have some experience with it?

I wasn't really sure which section to put this (as the game and apps section seemed to only have games listed) so feel free to move this if necessary.

I've been growing increasingly interested with the PC streaming thing that programs like Kainy facilitate, but I'm new to this kind of thing so I was hoping to get some testimony about it. I got the demo version of Kainy and I tested it a bit with the ZSNES PC emulator, but without being able to test the sound quality or see it in the proper color, I'm not sure I want to buy it (yeah, it's only $3 but it's the principle.) It'd be nice if they had a timed full version or something like that.

That said, do any of you have any experience with the paid version of Kainy (or even other programs like it) that you wouldn't mind sharing? So far, I felt a bit of input lag while I was using it but it was still better than I expected. I'm particularly curious how well it works with emulators that can't/don't run well on the OUYA (like the DC, PS2, and the GC.) How's the input lag and picture/sound quality for you guys? And are there any similar programs that are better/on-par with it?

    Thanks for any info.

As far as Gamecube emulation goes; the computer running the game takes a big hit in performance because you're not only playing the game you're pushing it to another output source. I took ~15fps hit when I started streaming. The sound is good (I have i turned off at the computer) and the lag is noticeable but definitely doable for anything that isn't fps or speed platformer like sonic that need split time reaction. Playable though; I was doing some pikmin and then played some limbo. Both had equal sound and visual quality.

Arrrg, why can't you edit titles! That's a terrible typo, heh.

Hmm, yeah I was expecting that. I've got a decent mid-range system so I figured it would work alright, but I'll have to test it later to make sure. Even if the fps is ok, I'm still not sure I'll have the tolerance for the lag though. This is actually one of the reasons I had been looking at the Nvidia Shield, but it looks like you need a 650+ card to use the streaming function -- I'm running an overclocked 561ti 448core. Add to that, the other issue I have with it (not being able to use an external drive) and I just couldn't justify it for the cost.

Anyway, thanks for the post. I'll try it out later with one of the aforementioned emulators and see how it performs. I just wish I could do it without the annoying color scheme and the lack of sound.

I'm running an OCed i5 3570k 4.2ghz and I normally don't go past 50% load capacity on the PS2 emulator that I use, so I'm hoping it won't be an issue.

    Like undftdroar said, try Splashtop.

Another possible alternative: nVidia streaming works wonderfully with OUYA via the Limelight apk. It's basically a hacked version of nVidia's shield app. You may be able to get your PC to stream via your 560ti with this registry hack.
