Video Game Rom Hack

Say I want to put a rom hack of a game onto the ouya, EX: Super Mario 74.
but it's unpatched. When I patch my rom hack with Lunar IPS, EX: Super Mario Brutal for the SNES.

Seems like you're trying to use a patch on a different game, that will not work. It has to be used on the game the patch was made for.
For patches to work you have to unzip everything, putting them into the same folders helps tremendously, using a patch on a .zip/.rar file will not work.
