    Frustration frustration frustration

Bought an Ouya for Christmas, never got a chance to do anything yet.
    Started today.

    Updated Ouya to latest
    USB External HDD not recognised.
    USB Stick not recognised
Both formatted in all shades of format known
FilePwn does not show either USB drives.

    Installed Swiftp, port 2121, 192.168.X.X
Filezilla and Transmit both connect, but I cannot navigate sub hierarchy
550 Invalid name or chroot violation
    Remote chdir failed
Tried to set permissions 777 or 755 same issue.

Next... Dropbox. Got an apk through browser, downloaded, installed, opened the app: Cannot fire the keyboard for the user name.
Went to dropbox.com, tried to log in. Same issue, no keyboard shows up for username or password.

Now this is beyond me. Nothing I throw at this stubborn little box would do anything for me.
    Back to the store.

so i just installed swiftp on my ouya and filezilla on my pc, it connected with no problems at all and i was able to successfully transfer files. Are you using wifi or ethernet? I'm using ethernet.

try using the hp format tool instead of the stock windows format tool, others have had problems like yours and this helped them.

Well, none of the things you are trying to do are directly intended to be done on the Ouya and may require some tinkering. I use the Box app instead of Dropbox because the app supports the controller. Use the touchpad to navigate to the sign in boxes and the soft keyboard should show up, it always has for me. I can't help you with ftp as I don't use it.

Not all external drives work from what I hear, although every memory stick I've plugged in has worked for me.

I'm on Wifi on a Mac. Thing is I can connect and see the files directory, through two different apps, just can't navigate or access the contents due to permissions issues.

I use Dropbox all the time on my OUYA. No problems with a controller, and never needed a keyboard.

    Drop box works fine.
I installed it via amazon app store.
You have to click the button on the screen to register instead of hitting the done button on the keyboard.
    That just resets everything.

Did you happen to play any games on the Ouya.
I know this must seem like a silly question.

Why are you even doing all of this I have to ask.
It sounds like you just opened it up & went straight to side-loading stuff cause you read it on the net.

Yes I have played games on the ouya
Thanks for the tip on registering a new account, it worked. Though when I loaded a ROM .zip and clicked it, I was offered to open it through EMU or another Ouya App, not to download it to the downloads folder for later use through MAME. . . .

Tried to load an XBMC repo, same scenario.
