    Concussion Boxing - Pompi Pompi

    Hi there,

Concussion Boxing appeared first on Android, then iOS and now on the beloved OUYA.
Concussion Boxing is not super complex, it's simple yet it's usually fun from the first moment.

You pick one of the 3 boxing styles and then play against the Neural Network AI.
Currently on OUYA you can only play against the AI but I plan to add local multiplayer and maybe even multiplayer over the network.

Making this game I realized that making fighting games is not as easy as I thought but I think this is a good attempt. Maybe you will enjoy it and you could also help me improve it with your feedback.

Some screenshots(Was quite hard to take them as my dev PC is on a different room than my OUYA console):

That kick seems ...weird. I hope it's an early animation ^^
    However I'll try it.

The guy on the left in the last frame looks like he's just standing there naked. Hahaha

I know this sounds awful but when I saw the picture of that kick it put me off downloading it, but I'm going to play now I've seen this thread. The other pictures show that you have put a lot of effort in.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I guess making an effort to put the best screenshot is really important.

Honestly, I think that if you are developing a fighting game, you should be able to create some realistic move.
The "kick photo" is SO bad... I want to try your game (could be fun, and I hope so) but that movement seems SO badly done... seems simply "wrong".

Yeah deffo, have you thought of adding a video to your store listing? I normally get swayed by watching those.

I think I will add a video and update the screenshot on the next update.

It doesn't get any better playing the real thing, I can tell you that. The kick is nightmarishly awkward.

    Here comes my thoughts:

    1. The boxers
They move kind of funny which makes me laugh, but laughing at a game is not the same thing as laughing with a game. They have a posture and an anatomy that mostly reminds me of blow up dolls.

    2. The sound
Surely there must be more than one free "ouch"-sound and one free "punch"-sound the game could use? It becomes irritating to listen to very quickly.

    3. The AI
Many times my opponent just stood there, kicking that awkward kick in the air even though I was nowhere near him.

    4. The controls
Is there a way to block? I tried all buttons but couldn't get my boxer to block anything. The jump has a bit of a moon gravity thing going on and since ducking takes so long I kind of avoided it.

I am absolutely one of those people that could enjoy a game even if it has many flaws, maybe even because it has many flaws, but this is a game somewhere in between. I pressed "punch" for fifteen minutes and uninstalled it. Sorry man.

    Thanks for the feedback.
This gives me an idea. I wanted to start working on Concussion Boxing 2 but I think I will just improve upon this game and fix all the issues with it so when I do start working on Concussion Boxing 2 I will have a better understanding on how to make it.

The animations are bad, I did them myself. I think I will try get my new artist make the animations for me. That should improve it by a lot.
The biggest issue is making a good gameplay. Do you have any tips for that? All the other issues can be fixed with a little effort. I need more feedback I guess... and do more research...

    Thanks again.
