Since it is mainly about the games/apps I think the way the make their commercials on their YouTube channel is a perfect way to advertise. Like this:

I don't see anything wrong with that kind of marketing and that is what most of their videos are like. I don't think they have to really focus on much else other than basics like the price, every game free to try, no discs, and the other things like what is on ouya.tv. Just the games/apps and the general benefits of the console. When they can eventually get TV ads it should be just like that but until then they can just do that all over the Internet. The devs have an investment in it. So, they can do the same thing but just focus on their games/apps specifically by promoting them and saying which platforms they are on. The fans/gamers can advertise through word of mouth. The Internet is pretty powerful. It is powerful enough that all the bad press is only on the Internet. If that is effective then it can be just as effective for the good press.

I also think the bad press is just an exaggeration or since we are fans we notice it more. If it is so bad then why are all these so called "OUYA killers" popping up? If OUYA is such a failed idea and nothing but bad is associated with it then why is all this competition popping up? It makes no sense. People don't emulate bad ideas because there is no market for them. People emulate good ideas because there is a market for them. There is clearly a market for cheap small all in one devices for games, music, emulators, movies, apps, etc in a little box that plays on your TV. They seem like the logical next step just as flat panels were for big CRT TV's. Instead of a bunch of big boxes hooked up to a big TV, people want little boxes that do everything hooked up to thin little TV's.
