    Bollaware's SVEN - Bollaware

Bollaware's SVEN is a classic retro 2D jump'n'run adventure. Guide the Friendly Restless Explorer Sven through the underground levels, find secret levels, collect gold coins, walk, jump, climb, swim and fly and collect awards!

I'm the developer & level designer, a good friend of mine creates the gfx (we're both from Germany) and Nick from Australia created the music for us!

Just give SVEN a try! You're allowed to play a lot of levels for free! https://www.ouya.tv/game/Bollawares-SVEN/

Downloaded it earlier today but have to wait to get home to play. I actually skipped it last night when I saw it because the screen shots didn't appeal to me. Can't remember what I thought exactly but I did not think 2D jump'n run adventure. I thought more like an overhead puzzle. Guess the brick work in the pics kinda made it look flat. But yeah 2D adventure sounds fun!

I find the movement a bit slow and too much of the colors overpowering each other. I couldn't see where my viking was and when I did, trying to focus was straining my eyes, due to the many harsh colors.. Any way to tone them down a touch?

It looks like it could be a very fun game but the colors and screen sizing needs adjusted. I could hardly see the small icons on the menu screen and during play the main character is very small and its very hard to tell floor, outer wall, and inner wall apart. The colors make it all look like it is all in the same layer. 7 feet from a 42' screen should not render the game objects too small to see. I ended up having to sit right in front of the TV to see but after a few minutes the blending of the colors just started bothering my eyes lol. Also may be a good idea to speed the character up a little bit.

A darker background would look something like this. Better?

This actually helps a great deal! It gives the feeling of depth and is much easier on the eyes

I played this for a while last night, and I enjoyed it.

The lack of visual contrast between the impassible blocks vs the backgrounds is indeed a problem, but I think it could be fixed easily. There are a lot of ways to approach the problem, but the simplest is to just make all the background tiles darker.

I did notice that Sven's movement speed was very slow, but as I got more into the game it didn't really bother me very much. I really liked that Sven's movement never felt out-of-control, so even if you do speed him up in a future update, please don't speed him up too much! This game wouldn't be fun if Sven ran like Sonic the Hedgehog

Yeah, that looks great! Definitely an improvement.
