Guys, the ChatBox is back. We will be introducing some new more lenient rules very soon.

Let us know if you experience any bugs. There are a few we are working on.

Rules

• Do not personally post anything that offends someone else. Do not insult others. Some humorous or light hearted insults will be allowed. i.e. You suck at that game.
• Do not do anything that would make the Chatbox experience a negative one for anyone else.
  
• Don't post anybody's personal information, spread rumors, talk negatively of, or try to gain a following against any other member(s).
  
• Banned words: F*ck, F*cked, F*cking, or anything along those lines. Don't try to bypass these words either.
  
• Forum staff has the right to determine if they think something is breaking a rule. If a staff member tell you to stop doing what you are doing, then stop. Do not argue or try and retaliate.
  
• Forum staff has the right to ban users from the chatbox. A timed ban may be issued depending on the circumstances. Don't bypass any ban placed on you.
  
• Don't spam the chatbox with repeated messages, questions, or generalities. Also don't post for the sake of increasing your post count.
  
• No linking to malware, porn, or sites that distribute copyrighted material.
  
• Try to moderate your foul language usage. There's no reason to say a curse-word multiple times in any given short span of time.
  
• If you are running into trouble with another member then proceed to private message a Staff member and they'll will seek for a solution. Keep it away from the chatbox.
  
• Religious discussions are not permitted. This includes but is not limited to religious debates, forcing your religious beliefs or lack there of onto other members, evangelizing, religious intolerance, making members feel a lack of community over religious differences, etc... Exceptions and clarifications:

(We understand that there are religious/philosophical ideas used in every day conversation concerning expressions like "Oh my God!", talking about what gifts you want on holidays such as Christmas, religious content in video games, etc... These types of ideas in discussions are permitted. You know the difference between these ideas and the rule above. Use your common sense.)

I think it's time to explain some of the features of this thing. It's a lot better than the one we had previously, though there are a few bugs me and another Staff member have reported. At least one of what could become multiple anyways.

Here's what you'll see when you first come on the homepage. It's the chatbox in its vanilla state.

 

As you can see I had opened up a tab for me and Kaimega to talk to one-another in private. The character box has a three hundred character limit which is better than the last chatbox which had two-hundred and fifty. Now to the icons...

- The "OK" icon is another way for you to submit what you say and I think it's mostly there for phone users.
- The Trash Bin is there to remove all that's in the character box which is most likely for phone users as well.
- That plug allows you to see who's online in the chatbox. You won't be able to see hidden Staff members like me and Kaimega as seen by our asterisks.

 

- The recycle icon is to manually refresh the chatbox without refreshing your entire page.
- The BB Code icon is unfinished at the moment, but it will probably allow you to select both your font look(bold, italic, underlined) and color as seen here. Size won't be an option to you and all members would be forced to use the default size because of obvious reasons. There's a hyperlink option so that you can basically mimic what you could do on the forum, but it blends in if you use the default chatbox color so if you want to use it to the best of its abilities then you gotta color up.

 

- The smiley icon allows you to select all the ones we have that are installed on the forum.

 

- The question mark icon is basically something that helps you out with being a chatbox member.
- The arrow icon on the far right is something that a few of you have been requesting as a feature. It's essentially(but not technically) a full-screen chatbox button as seen here. I'm going to ask Eddie if he could possibly add the link to the Navbar.

 

That's about it for that kinda stuff, but let's going on to other things. Clicking the small arrow on the top-right of the chatbox will collapse it. I'm going to get Eddie to make it so that anybody not even wanting the chatbox(collapsed or not) on the homepage can simply turn it off altogether from their control panel.

 

Finally, the Archive button sends you to the chatbox archive where you can see all the posts that have been made including stats. You can search for specific ones and all that jazz.

 

That really concludes the explanation. Things like private chatting will appearing in the main chatbox tab with indication with "To Kaimega", or "From Kaimega" depending on who is talking. Everything else is best explained with experience.

Rioting, it doesn't seem like we can send PMs to non-staff members. Atleast it wouldn't let me send one to a regular user. Says they don't have permission to receive. However, I looked and all the permissions seem ok....

I don't get the input line at all. The chatbox automatically hides the editor span with style:none; and when I try to unhide it and write something, the page refreshes and nothing gets sent.

Just so anybody knows if not already, but that was a pre-made post of mine up above so it may be a teeny bit inaccurate.

Possibly not enough posts yet. I believe you need a certain amount of posts before you can use it.
