Thread: VPN for Netflix

Go to manage/system/advanced/wifi highlight your connection and do a long press on the O button (press and hold) and it will give you the options modify and forget network. Select modify (now this will put the cursor in the password box but if you look, it has unchanged in brackets so just click done). Next select advanced options and scroll down to where it says IP settings and change it from DHCP to static then scroll down some more and you can change your DNS server there. Type in 109.123.111.24 (You just literally delete the one that's in and type the new one). Then come out of settings, do a hard reboot of your device. When you turn it back on give it a minute to warm up. Also when you open netflix for the first time it will take a bit longer than normal to load, so don't panick. Mine took about three mins. If you want to go back to your original DNS then just select forget network and reconnect to it as normal and your settings will return to their default settings

    free dns server.

    109.123.111.24

Right I've also just tried this with the Ethernet connection. To get it to work on that I had to input full static ip details which included that DNS. I know I'm going to get slated for this guide but hey, I'm not going through setting up static IP address with you.

    So

Install xbmc (if you haven't already)
Go along the center bar to system and you will see some tabs below it
    Select system info
In the left hand menu select network
Write down your box's IP address, netmask and gateway

Then go back to manage/system/advanced/Ethernet click Ethernet configuration, select static ip and enter the information

    IP address: 192.168.0.something
    Net mask: (probably) 255.255.255.0
    DNS: 109.123.111.24
    Gateway: (probably) 192.168.0.1

And click save. Then go and open netflix and voila you have the American one.

The reason I will get slated is because we have not set up your router correctly and assigned that IP address to your ouya. So if you turn your ouya off and another device connects to your router (say the wife comes home and her phone connects automatically because it's now in range of the router), then the router may assign your wife's phone with the same IP address as you have just set in your ouya. This will stop your ouya connecting to the router. This is unlikely as most routers will assign a different ip range to wireless connections than to wired ones. But if it does happen go back to your Ethernet config and set it back to dhcp and the box will be assigned a new ip. You could then just repeat the steps above to get back to American netflix.

If it starts to come up with error messages after a few weeks then it means netflix has blocked that server, so google working netflix DNS and try a few to get a new one that will work.

If there is a way to change the DNS server on Ethernet without setting up a static ip for your box could anyone who knows please let us know. I have android tablets (nexus 7) and phones but have obviously not needed to use Ethernet settings with those.
