This are no news
They still working on it
@Ned Scott
is XBMC 12.2 (stable) an alpha on the ouya?
--> 2013-06-14
Why would you use the build that doesn't have hardware decoding? To be honest, I wouldn't call XBMC v12.2 for Android stable, either. I don't know how many times we have to say it, I don't know how big and bold the font has to be, but XBMC for Android is still being developed. It's not up to par for XBMC on other OSes, and thinking that this is "as good as it gets" means you haven't been paying attention to what's been going on.
Then on top of all that, OUYA's software is still being tweaked and shouldn't be considered stable. If OUYA didn't make that clear enough in their kickstarter or isn't making that clear now on their website, shame on them, but last I looked they were being straight forward about about all that kind of stuff.
EDIT: Which is not to say that I think people should have to wait if they don't want to, but this isn't something unexpected. This is something we've been telling people since XBMC for Android was announced. This is why you can't get XBMC on the Google Play store yet. It's not done, and yes, it will get better.

He's not a random guy, if you have read xbmc forum for the last 5 years!

It also seems Ouya is forking their own version of XBMC

I loaded the libstagefright build a day or two after getting my Ouya but so far I'm not all that impressed. It crashes ALL THE TIME for me to the point of being unusable...but then again lots of things seem to crash all the time on my Ouya (and it seems to have gotten worse after the last update and the factory reset I did to get my wifi back.) YDKJ crashes between the legal screen and the logo screen 3 out of 4 times I start it. Puddle crashes randomly at various points (both in the menus and while playing). XBMC crashes everywhere to the point I've pretty much given up on it for now. Kind of makes me wish I hadn't bothered with the factory reset since I saw less crashing before that.
I don't mean to jinx myself here, but my experience has been that the most recent Gotham alpha libstagefright build (04Jun) of XBMC has been just as stable/useful as it is on my HTPC. I did have an issue with the console not buffering enough, but a quick add of the "0" buffer tweak to the <network> section of the advancedsettings.xml file (so that the cache writes to disk rather than RAM) seems to have fixed even that issue. Of course, it does crash at times, but no more than the Win version. Perhaps I'm just easy to please, and I'm certainly glad that Ouya is staying on the team's radar, but if XBMC is just going to get better from here, I might as well just move my HTPC into another room.

I have ouya running on libstagefright with HW acceleration build and works great. Now I understand there is a crash here and there but then again look at the stage it's in right now. For us that have one at this point we are just the "testers" I see good things coming once everyone interested gets their hands on one of these little boxes and start messing with it. That's just my opinion.
Are people having problems with xbmc on Ouya? If so I don't understand why I downloaded the android version straight from there xbmc website though the ouya browser working great from day one of me getting my Ouya 3 weeks ago
Got back from talking with Ned Scott. We were talking about the donation idea.

No problem! Just for anyone else who is interested, here's the guide I followed (2nd post):
http://minixforums.com/threads/incre...-in-xbmc.1122/
Although one can set the buffer size to any desired numerical value, because of the limited RAM on the Ouya, I decided to use the "0" (unlimited) operator since, for versions of XBMC 12.2+ at least, it causes XBMC to use the disk memory instead of the RAM. Because Ouya's disk memory is flash, it seems to work pretty darn well.
In case of further interest, here's more info about the "advancedsettings.xml" file that you create as a part of that guide. Who knows, somebody else with a bit more expertise might find other settings to help with overall stability/performance on the Ouya!
