OK so I have no idea who this undefeated guy is but I dislike him already for hijacking the thread. Does anybody have a quick answer to my question? I just need to run the apk from a rooted phone's /data/app directory to install it? (I actually can't find anything in my /data/app directory on my rooted kitkat Galaxy S3...)

In a few cases (DRM), you may need to use something like Titanium Backup to transfer the settings (which will have your registration key) or setup the Google Play store so it can check your license. Lots of stuff works without that though, paid apps included.
Ahhh thank you much. I found obb files for some of my paid apps also and wondered what they were... Maybe I'll use AppMonster ...

The APKs might be in a different directory, depending on your ROM, and you may not be able to mount the phone directly from the OUYA, but that's the basic idea. If you've got Titanium Backup or similar, you could also backup your games and apps with that, install Titanium on the OUYA, and then restore your backups there. A few games that store keys locally rather than checking the Play store might work that way without installing the store.

I already had Google Play installed, so I downloaded it from there, but you should be able to download it directly from the website, then find and launch the APK using FilePwn from the Discover store.

Much appreciated!! I should also be able to TBU an app, email it to myself, and install it from my own email right?

I haven't tried it, but I don't see why not. Premium TiBu users can also send backups straight to Dropbox or other cloud storage.

Alright - so sideloading is insanely easy. Like trivially easy. I basically found an ES Explorer apk online and put it into my Google Drive, then downloaded it to the OUYA and opened it with FilePWN to install it, and then I'm able to send whatever I want directly into ES Explorer from another Android device. Piece of cake.

But I still wanted the Google Play Store - so I rooted and installed it. Riptide GP2 looks amazing but has crazy controller lag that makes it unplayable... But things are looking up, gents! Thanx a bunch!

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

If you like indie you will love your little Ouya but if you are wanting a next gen experience in terms of graphics and such then Ouya probably isn't for you.
I'm not trying to be contradictory, but this is starting to bug me.
A vast majority of people on this forum want to pigeonhole OUYA as a indie-console and keep big names like EA, etc out of the picture.
I'm sorry if this goes against your feelings...

But if OUYA wants to stay at the top of the Microconsole Heap, the user-base is going to have to stretch into the mainstream or else they leave a gaping hole for another microconsole to swoop in cut a few deals with "AAA" Android Developers and stomp OUYA into the dirt. While I love that it's so easy for new developers to get their innovative ideas out on OUYA, if it doesn't ditch the "Indie Console" Moniker in favor of something that reads more like "Extremely Indie Friendly" it has the possibility of extinction. People should at least back down from booing "AAA" developers appearing on OUYA. Believe me, I hate EA as much if not even more than your average informed and attentive gamer... But I realize how much they are needed on OUYA. Games like Gridiron Thunder fall short (By a large margin) of comparable games like Madden 25.

Realistic Expectations for the survival of OUYA should and WILL include 'AAA' Development Studios adopting the platform.

Remaining a niche product should not be a cause that fans of OUYA should be championing.

I don't think people want EA out...well, I don't like them but that's besides the point.
People don't want just lazy ports and all that. People would love new games from those companies but when it's recycled and half assed then why bother.
People ask about these bigger companies all the time but seem to get nowhere. Look at Ubisoft who for some unknown reason is supporting Gamestick..why Gamestick over Ouya? Doesn't even make sense. I tweeted them yesterday to ask though I doubt I'll get an answer.

Gridiron is not a comparable to Madden in any way. Not the same type of games.

Can we even say top of the microconsole heap when besides Gamestick they're the only ones? Those others are Google Play boxes. Though they're micro, they're not in the same class.
