Thread: Wifi issue!

    Wifi issue!

Two or three updates ago, my Wifi started giving me problems...not with connectivity, I'm fortunate enough to be one of the few that Wifi actually works GOOD for now, but with reconnecting after I've put it to sleep and back awake. At first I thought it was probably just a bug and would be fixed, but now it's been a long time, and another update, so I searched for the problem and seems like nobody is sharing this issue.

To fully explain the problem, Wifi works fine when I turn on the OUYA, works fine while using it, but when I sleep it via the menu and go to use the OUYA again, it will not connect to any network nor will it even detect any network. A full restart (holding down the button on the console for the pop up) is required to get it to work again.

Because they have taken away the option to toggle wifi on/off manually, I can't find any other way to fix it. I'm guessing it is a problem with the update install and most likely I'll have to factory reset to get it working properly again, but thought I'd try here first.

I have never seen this before on Ouya but I had a couple android phones that did it. One was because the phone was not bringing the wifi antenna out of power save mode. The other was because the wireless router would not come out of power save for the phone. Of course the first was resetting the phone. Second case I just set my wireless to not go into power save mode. You can check your wireless router next time to see if it see's and active connection to the Ouya.

    Hello!
If I don't use ouya for a while, wifi connection is turning off even ouya is awake. How can I prevent it in rooted ouya?

I gave up using wifi on the ouya as it's as bad as the bluetooth. now i just use ethernet and a wired ps3 controller.

I've had no other problems with my Wifi, as long as I don't go into sleep mode it's stable and fast, but having to not use sleep mode is annoying. i'll probably end up factory resetting, thanks for the answer(s)! I'm pretty sure it's the antenna not coming out of sleep mode.
