    Official thread is here.

A new Kickstarter has been launched to bring Jumpman to the Ouya! Technically a new one called Jumpman Forever. Been 30 years since I played it and would love to. Goal seems a bit high at 20k but I can hang Its scheduled to release Feb or March 2014

Looks cool. Nice to see another FTG title that seems to have a decent amount of support

I hope they got permission. The last company that remade Jumpman got threatened with legal action and had to discontinue the game.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

    From the Kickstarter campaign:

In 1999 - 2000 range, something really weird happened: A number of people got ahold of Randy Glover, and got permission to do sequels to Jumpman. I was one of those people. Most of the agreements were to do freeware versions of the game, though, I managed to talk Randy into letting me do a commercial sequel to the game (though, I'll get into the specifics of that in a moment.)
edit: And if you read through more of it, you'll see he's got a bit of a history of trying to get this game going. I think it's safe to assume he has the appropriate rights to make this.

Outstanding. I feel sheepish for not checking that myself... Although I would have if I wasn't using the forum from my phone.

I wrote to the dev, he told me he will be stopping by tomorrow to open a thread. Backer updates also said that a game play video should be up tomorrow

Yeah, but, it's a pretty legitimate question to ask: Apogee Software, back in the late 90's tried to do a complete adaptation of Jumpman (called Jumpman Lives!) for the PC, and Epyx (who was the IP holder at the time - it reverted to the original author, Randy Glover in '98, just after that) smacked them down.

There's a new trailer and two gameplay videos up since you've posted that - I've been throwing new level videos up from time to time this last week.

One request: I hope the original Jumpman is included with this.
And yet another vote for the original levels. If there's one thing people have been requesting (previously it was a level editor, which is part of the current release plan) it's to have the original levels with it. It won't be in the initial release cycle if / when we do it: there's already a loose "plot line" we're following on it, and we're sticking to that for the time being. However, with the existence of the level editor, the question is if someone will end up beating me to releasing an original level pack to it.

Hehe - suppose I should introduce myself: I'm Davis, the author behind Jumpman Forever and the guy behind the Jumpman Forever kickstarter :-) (which can be found, easily enough, at www.JumpmanForever.com

Good to know this has the thumbs up of the original authors. Never played it as I was a ZX Spectrum guy. Might have to have a play on an emulator and see what all the fuss is about.

    Love Jumpman.

    Kicked in a pledge.

I have to say, I don't like the graphic design so far, though. I guess it's going for retro feel but it just looks amateurish instead. I hope he gets in touch with a professional graphic artist.

I also hope there's some kind of confirmation from Randy G that this is legit. But hey, I'll go along for the ride even if this kickstarter goes wacky.
