ChatBox - Only for Supporters and Staff

Joined the IRC. I forget how much fun they can be it's just a different feeling all together.

I paid $25 for a 5 year subscription to gain nothing but only offered it because I wanted to contribute to the community. I became Staff and don't even receive a dime for it because I wanted to contribute to the community. Out of all the options we bounced off of each other I could tell a compromise needed to be made. So, I offered the suggestion of offering it as one of the supporter bonuses which I also don't receive a dime for. I offered it because it is a compromise that I contributed to the community. It is not a money grab. If you believe it is then it is my empty wallet you should be looking at and not Eddie's.

If you want a good reason for this decision then think about how we accidentally banned you because we mistaken you for an ex-member that has made at least 30 different accounts to harass us after being banned and he keeps coming back because of the chat box more than anything. He has been the hardest person to moderate, we have spent more time on him than any member, and he isn't even a member. In other words, we are stepping up our moderating game and that doesn't include adding 10 more moderators to chase around and babysit a kid that has been expelled from this school.

Well, I'm not going to complain. I don't own this forum and have no say in what happens on it. I never really witnessed the rule breaking, but I'll put that down to a lack of activity on my part and perhaps some time zone differences; perhaps these things happened during my sleep.

Either way, I don't have a great use for the forum without the chatbox, but that's just me personally. I hope you will all remember me should I release a game on this console !

Eddie.. in light of the recent conversation you and I exchanged, I think you made a good decision here.

The chatbox is an issue on both sides of the fence. There are moderators who don't know how to handle it with a modicum of common sense and violate the rule book themselves unscathed, and then there are members who clearly need to be baby sat to the point where it is a huge burden. The net gain is almost zero to negative. And it draws an ugly line between "staff" and "members" (which is probably done unnecessarily with the defensive posts I see here anyway) when what should be promoted is community and harmony.

Not a damn (I can say that here, right?) person is perfect here. I've seen the infractions by both sides of the line with my own eyes.

That said, I owe you a membership fee. Not for the chat box, but for what you've provided here.
I've admittedly been lazy about it because I don't like pay pal. But that's not a good excuse.
