Yep I remember. I appreciated how nice you were about it and how smoothly we went on to have more fun discussions. Staff is not the enemy of anybody. We just want people to peacefully coexist and have fun talking about OUYA and just random crap if they so choose. Staff was forced by the actions of the members to do what you're seeing now and wish it hadn't had to come to it.

Most of all sounds like a method to squeeze the last bit of profit out of this site, now that various indie devs are pissed at you and traffic is coming in.
It doesn't have to be gone forever, it could even be gone for an hour. It's an ongoing situation like I said.
And how can you ask in the chatbox and have an informed response when you want answers from EVERYONE.

I can guarantee you with 400% certainty that it's not about more supporters.

As I said. I always hated those things but I see the positives for having it here and have fought for it to stay in the past.
We are actively working on the issue and that's all I can say for now.
Maybe it's gone, maybe it'll be back, let us figure out what to do with it and the issues that have arisen.

It's not like we thought it would be a popular decision.

I actually wish it could have been cleaned up. I understand and agree with what you guys had to do though. I was only on a couple times but the conversation going on at the time I was on just made me run the other direction lol. I would rather use the forums then have to deal with some of that rudeness lol. It may actually be better this way if I can pay $.99 a month for a friendly chat box

And it definitely isn't a profit thing. Servers are not cheap and there are barely any supporter accounts.

1st of, why was my genious money making recipe removed?
2nd, I see what you mean, but according to your logic, you want every single members opinion in order to make it stay, and I'm afraid that's not gonna happen.

I don't know if it hasn't occured to any of the leaders, but announcements are possible on these types of boards. A sticky the thread and make it important
and that should bring traffic and opinions. Now, what bad did it do to the site? I know it may be sickening in the long run to sit and listen to kids bullshit, day and night
about nonsense, but I'm afraid that's part of the moderator job.

*I just re-read this paragraph and it kinda sounds like I'm telling you what it's like to be a moderator on this particular forum, please don't interpret it that way, it's
solely based off my personal 9-year journey through various forums, and not necessarily valid for this one.*

Instead of getting rid of the "problem", and thus creating an another equally sized problem,
and then the decision on (in lack of a better word) "blackmailing" people into buying support in order to regain access to their precious shoutbox is not the brightest move either.

I hope you take this into consideration and hopefully bring back the shoutbox.

personally I think it's a mistake. IT was the main reason I came to this site, to chat with the regs that I met it was also handy to see posts that were popping up in the Window. However, now that it's removed, I will come to this site less, bringing it less traffic, not spreading "word of mouth" advertising and for what? so you can get money from people that want to use it, which will likely break the rules again until you decide to get rid of it completely? I just found teh box and havne't visted the site in months. However, the last 2 days I was constantly on the site because of that chat box. Now it all goes to IRC. Smooth move.

You guys make it sound like the chatbox was riddled with problems and people were going in there and just going crazy and acting like assholes. I personally never saw ANY of that. And I was in the chatbox a lot.

I also personally witness moderators swearing ... in the chatbox. An offense I got banned for. For saying a word that I had no idea was even a swear word.

Yes ... you guys (one in particular) are CRAZY power hungry. It seems to consume you. You like moderating an OUYA forum more than you actually like the OUYA. It is insanity.

as for profit, you can run many different forums on linux, for free, as long as you have 1 single IP address. I run a mail server, web server, remote desktop server, file server, I did run a jabber server, and some toher junk on one desktop linux box, guess how much all those things cost a month... nothing. They were all open source / freeware. I pay 105 a month for the internet and the electricity is cheap. AT 588 a year, i'd still lose money, but I'd be losing LESS money running the site.

This would be a great topic to discuss in the chatbox.

YOu can do that, you supported it. I never liked the sales pitch for the site. It was too obvious and didn't offer any benefit. This site always seemed to rule heavy. It's the freaking internet where the only rules here are set by superiority complexes. This site is heavier than MANY in trying to lay down the banhammer / make your status feel important. It turns people away from the site , more than the owner and moderators seem to know. But what do I know, I only hosted a 4 line BBS BEFORE the internet was around....ontop of that putting a S at the end of the website takes you to a less rule heavy, less sales pitchy, option.

With competition available, those heavy rules and over moderation aren't going to bring in more traffic. They will instead have people putting in ouyaforumS.com. Ask yourself, what does this site offer to the GENERAL PUBLIC (your target audience) that others dont? It's not a high userbase. It's always easy to find someone that agrees with your anger over OUYA. So why does THIS site seem better? I like the chat box to talk, without having to move my mouse and refresh the browser, to fellow ouyanies. You want someone like me to use your site because I am the common gaming/ ouya interested (and kickestarted) vistor.

This is my last attempt to try and get across that your moderators are too harsh, your site expections are too unrealistic and competition is easily a keystroke away.

Guys lets be fair about this.
In the mod's defense I know from experience that you need to strike a balance with people.
As with all things you give something to someone and they will abuse it.
In some ways doing this was Smart. I am sure the site will take a hit from it but will recover.
    That I have faith in.
I doubt people are going to pony up the however much it costs to be a supporter only to troll the chat.
Whoever does deserves to get ripped a new one. Mostly for wasting the money just to get banned for being a prick.
