It is really upsetting that things came to this point on such a great forum partly from posts on our own thread.

There is a huge difference in constructive crit and non constructive crit! Being on the receiving end is not just a matter of being "thick skinned", if it is a constant attack such as not caring about a game we had devoted all our resources towards and being compared to multi million $ budget games. Sure once is ok... we shake it off, take what we can, and try to improve on the product.
However, if the suggestion is a basic tear it all down, restart by hiring 100 staff to get the job done, due to a misunderstanding in what the original design intent was. Is this not a little unrealistic and an insult?
This is an amazing opportunity here folks, that I haven't seen in 17 years... ya I'm old... suck it... I got my start with a small company like the one I own now. (There were no big companies... we were all self taught... we made some great games and we are all pretty much still in the biz of making games AAA, Casual, and Indie today.)
In my years I realised everyone is an artist, programmer, designer, musician, etc... and constructive input good and bad, is a joy and welcome.
The worst part for me is looking at my teams faces when they read personal assaults on their level of commitment. (This is where I draw the line.)
It's not a "life story" it's a truth that I would rather not put them through BS, and move on. It's true Phil left basically for the same reasons we are chatting about now. I can see his point, why bother?
My guys / gals don't deserve this. Do I want to see them get "thick skinned" and create freemium games, become a "number" for a paycheck? They feed off of this forum it fuels them to create, I steer them towards that goal.
Paul was right, e-mail directly or PM the dev if you see something so terribly wrong with a game.
I can't tell anyone how to monitor their own posts.
There were so many good points brought up here, and personally I am on the fence, curb freedom of speech, or go for anarchy and let the system run itself?
The monitors here have the best intentions, and I side with all their actions for the sake of an exciting new console that allows for this level of creativity. There are small games and bigger games take them for what they are. I thought we were here to play games?
I personally know some great devs watching OUYA right now, watching closely. I have been sharing info about our experiences and trust me... it has mostly been about how easy it is to port / create, the amazing OUYA staff and the fantastic OUYA community. (When they ask about our revenue... you can guess..)
Sony tried this ages ago with something call a Yaroze, Sega as well... guess what? OUYA is a success and it's here for amateur devs as well as established studios. I think that is pretty amazing...

Guess I am done ranting.

Keep gaming!

Steve.
