Thread: SPMC - Koying

What is better, the XBMC Gotham launcher or this? I assume that this has the option to have it set up as a launcher too, correct?

SPMC, unless I am mistaken is built on the Frodo (version 12) of XBMC, Gotham Launcher is built on Gotham (version 13). While they are the same app, there have been a number of changes. As for the launcher bit, sorry I don't know if SPMC does it or not, but I would assume it can not launch Android apps the same way as Gotham since, as far as I know, this is a Gotham only feature.

I've submitted a pull request, using your code, to spmc on GitHub to enable setting spmc as launcher, but for the moment, as the PR isn't merged, it can't be set as the default launcher.

It can however launch apps, I don't know how Gotham differs in this aspect but I'm launching apps flawlessly in spmc

AFAIK, launching apps from SPMC works.
The reason I didn't apply the launcher patch is that when SPMC is set as launcher, you loose multichannel output.

Multichannel working is a kind of miracle, really ;-)
It apparently works because the ouya launcher is somehow opening the Sound device in multichannel mode.
Otoh, activating the bt gamepad before launching xbmc breaks it.

I read about libstagefreight changes - one can assume the problem lies there.
lol "Melt your computer with killa.sampla"
    I'll try it

    This is really weird!

Personally I'd still prefer launcher capabilities over multichannel output (but maybe I'm alone in this) (and unfortunately I can't compile the source since I don't have a linux machine (or VM) atm)

The ouya launcher isn't open sourced is it? Maybe the Ouya devs wouldn't mind sharing that piece of the code?

Doesn't Cygwin make the *nix build tools available under Windows? I think Mac has those build tools too, if you swing that way.

"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "We're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

Since last Ouya update, my shutdown or reboot option in SPMC 1.2.4.1 does not work anymore. (i just get back in the Ouya menu with both options)
Anyone else has this? or is this just me? (i am rooted, and before Ouya update it did work 100%)

You need to re-root even the app say your ouya is already rooted.
