    Starbound (Chucklefish)

As of today, there is an ETA for the beta of Starbound (Dec 4th on Steam), a 2D sandbox game with an included quest system. One of the developers (I believe an artist) of the team behind Terraria decided to go rogue and start his own project, which on first glance is somewhat similar to Terraria, but has important differences.

The science-fiction setting allows players to travel from planet to planet, each on of them uniquely generated but revisitable if you have the coordinates (comparable to the Minecraft seeds). You have generated monsters, gravity, flora and fauna, "dungeons". On these planets, you find resources to use for you spaceship, companions, pets and stuff to research. There is a story that you can or cannot follow, by the means of quests.

I'm very excited about the game, and Chucklefish received a dev kit from Ouya. After that, nothing was ever heard again about wether the game will be published on Ouya (its 2D graphics shouldn't be a problem, I believe). If you like the concept and would enjoy it on Ouya, show 'em some love!

Looks beautiful, hope it does make its way to the OUYA!

EDIT: Not sure if you bothered to check out their forums, but wow they are heckling the OUYA like crazy. Not sure if this is even gonna happen and that is a shame.

It seems that the lead developer/creator/whatever said it wasn't even on the priority according to those forums Seems Ouya just can't get away from the hate..

I've been following this game's development for about a year now and while I am super excited for the beta release I just don't enjoy gaming on my computer. They've confirmed that it will come out on the Vita but there hasn't been any mention in recent history about the Ouya so I think it's just not going to happen.

    AW: Starbound (Chucklefish)

Hey there - no, I didn't check the forums specifically. I websearched "starbound ouya" and found a few mentions here and there which were mostly curious interest and guesswork, so I figured it's still in the stars (pun intended).

Too bad there's OUYA bashing going on. It's begun to get out of fashion over at Facebook, maybe it'll be generally outdated soon.

I tend to throw an OUYA comment in at Starbound's facebook posts now and then, just to keep it in the air. Who knows?
My PC will not be able to handle the game, so I'm definitely hoping for OUYA here. I mean, come on, the guys got a dev kit for free! That's mighty nice - if they ever go for Android at all, I'm sure they'll do controller support for the OUYA.

Edit: I just posted on the Starbound forums to put the OUYA version back on the map. I'm curious to see what turn the thread will take.

Hm, that's really a shame. But I must say it still sounds open to being considered:

We don't actually have an Ouya version planned, never really have. We were just given a dev kit.
Right now the plan is for PS4 and Vita in the future, but we're definitely up for looking into other platforms too.
    Time will tell...

They are stupids, seriously. So why did they send a participation for myouyagame?

Because they wanted a free devkit? And/or because they were smart enough to realise the hype around OUYA was something they could tap into.

Not the first time I've seen that happen, either, where devs say they'll do an OUYA version, only to later on lose enthusiasm, decide it isn't worth the effort or that they have bigger fish to fry.

If I remember correctly, Chucklefish didn't ask for a dev kit, but were one studio of a select few that Ouya singled out and sent a devkit to, just to say they think it would be a good match.
There was no taking-advantage of any kind involved, I seem to recall they were honestly suprised.
