Voting System

Hello OUYAForum members,

In this thread I am going to be discussing about a feature that I believe is troublesome at most. The feature that I am going to talk about is the voting system that can be found in some sections of this forum; the two buttons.

This is the only forum that I've seen with this feature and I believe that it is unnecessary. I used it once and I am certain that it does not benefit discussions, it only has the potential to upset members. This voting system can make an opinion stand out from the rest by having an above normal amount of positive or negative votes, without mattering if that said opinion is benevolent or malicious in relation to the discussion. A member may simply give another member a positive or negative vote because of past conflicts or because of the member's personal likings and dislikings about the other member. The cause of it doesn't necessarily have to be related to the topic being discussed. It may confuse some members if they see that their post has no ill intentions, yet has negative votes. It will also encourage members to continue misbehaving if their post does have ill intentions and has positive votes as well. This only supports herd (or mob) mentality.

I think that this feature needs to get rid of. There are more traditional and discrete ways to express your feelings towards a member's opinion, that being by replying to the actual post, using the reputation button that can be found near the bottom of the post or personally sending a private message to that member. I don't see a need for these two buttons and I feel like this system can easily be abused.
