    OUYA doing it right!

Just a few weeks back things were looking kinda grim, but now I feel like the OUYA has gained a lot of momentum, stuff is happening and games are coming!
The new UI revamp, usb storage, the ability to buy games directly from the store. These are awesome changes that really restores my hope for the console.

I'm super exciting that things are happening and that they're back on the right track!
When the update hits, I'm going on a shopping spree in the store! Who's with me?

Generally I agree with all points, however while I'm very happy with some of the awesome latest games that have arrived to the OUYA and the latest/incoming functionality updates as well, I am finding myself wanting for more games of established studios, not only new indies. It seems that aside from the launch titles (Sonic games from SEGA, O&C from gameloft, FF3 from S-E) we've not seen any more such titles, and I don't hear of many coming soon either (Killing Floor, Walking Dead...any more?)

Don't see it as a whiny "indies suck" post please, I'm enjoying the whole OUYA library a lot and if you'll check my top#25 post you'll see that it's almost entirely made out of indie titles but I'm just wishing for a better balance between the releases.

Things just take time. The really important thing for me is that no matter what the problems happen to be (since nothing is perfect), as long as OUYA show a willingness to fix the issues and keep iterating, keep improving, then they'll get there in the end. I think what we're seeing now is just the culmination of the hard work they've done since launch.

What's specifically worries me is that even the "bigger" developers I have mentioned before generally ceased to release any more of their games on the OUYA, even though they all have more games available on Google Play (i.e. generally easier to port in the first place)

When the other consoles launch they literally launch because they are well known companies. All three were established companies before they made consoles. Microsoft has been around since 1975, Sony has been around since 1946, and Nintendo has been around since 1889. They didn't get where they are over night but now that they are established well known companies it is easy for them to get big developers. When they launch a console it is like a rocket but a new company like OUYA is more like a snowball. They have to build up momentum. As the momentum builds up more people will know about them, more consoles will be sold, and more big developers will be drawn to it. As long as the snowball keeps rolling then there is nothing to worry about and it is normal for a new company to start out like this. So far I think they are doing well for a small company. Things are much better than at launch and I'm sure the holidays will add a little more snow. They just got to keep that snowball rolling and it is.

There are times I worry and have my doubts but right now I'm feeling pretty good about it. The thing that worried me the most was,"Can I give this as a Christmas gift?" Before it was a definite no and now I'm leaning towards yes because most of my issues with it are almost solved. If every one of us just gave away one OUYA as a gift we would have already doubled the size of the snowball and that doesn't even count all the new people that come across it on their own. If I can afford it then I'm giving out at least two. One of my brother's has his girlfriend and her kids living with him. I can just buy one OUYA, the extra controllers, and some gift cards then I will have a gift for the whole family. I can do the same for my wife's brother's family. Might even get one for my older brother since we have a lot in common when it comes to video games. I could cover most of my Christmas just with OUYA. Parents and in-laws will be harder but this Christmas could be pretty simple. They have such small boxes that would be easy to wrap and transport. It will be the first time that I would be giving out a family gift for them to enjoy together. I see some potential for some more snow here.

My brother is getting an OUYA for Christmas from me. He is really into emulation (he recently built an awesome 4 player MAME cabinet) and likes some of the games he played on mine. He also has a baby on the way and if he's going to buy new games, $60 AAA titles on the big consoles aren't going to do it. I'm considering buying one for my brother in law as well but I'm not sure he'd get as much use out of it as my brother.

I couldn't agree more, and I'm very much looking forward to the Ouya hitting Danish stores in time for Christmas.
I'm not sure it'll happen, but I'm very much hoping for it. It'll really help the sales here in Denmark, seeing as very few people even know about the Ouya here.

I couldn't agree more. A few weeks ago I barely turned on my OUYA. Now it is played every single day. The kids love it. It is played more than the Xbox.

I'm buying one for a Christmas gift as well. It will be the 4th Ouya I have purchased. Got one for me, one for my nephew on his birthday, and got one solely for streaming videos for my mom last week. They have an old 40" LCD HDTV that will not read any media, but the Ouya has solved this for them. No games... Just a way to play video files and the Ouya has solved the problem PREFECTLY.
