Well, no not really. Female gamers aren't just facebook moms (though, game studios use that excuse a lot to try and dismiss the statistic). For example, 38% of xbox users are women (with nintendo saying 50% of their uses are women).

I don't know what you mean by "hardcore" game interests. Probably that call of duty isn't a big demographic for women? Yea, that is true. It is also a VERY good sign, that there is a huge starving market for new types of games than the same rehashed shootem up. The industry might actually be able to grow out of the teenage years (and everyone will be better for it).
