The two are essentially attacking each other in attempts to further each one's own cause, and those attacks are a reflection of the damaging nature of such common tropes.
So, instead of "knight saves princess"...it is now "knight is trying to attack the princess to save her against her will while princess fights back".

Wait...WHAT?!

Is this supposed to challenge the trope? Or make it worse? :|
