    Gridrunner

This was one game I saw a review of on youtube, and I fell absolutely in love with the gameplay and retro vibe.. so similar to Galaga and Robotron 2084 having a lovechild. I'd be absolutely happy if this game ever got some sort of fix to work on the OUYA sideloaded, or get a proper OUYA port.

Strangely, the game runs in the old Commodore 64/Vic 20-style instead of the newer improved arcade-style and I'm not sure if that's a programming fault causing that to happen. Below is a link to the APK.

The grid that I see int he video every so often reminded me of the old Vectrex machines, with it's blue screen overlays.
I had alot of fun with that old machine (it was a giant beast).

Is there a hacker on this forum that might be able to see what could cause this game to only load in the C64-style graphics instead of the vibrant arcade-like graphics (I really just want to play this game in Pure Mode)? Wraith, maybe?

I agree, it's an old-style masterpiece. Jeff Minter is a real genius.

I'm pretty sure the game detects device orientation (horizontal or vertical and which side too) to switch between C64, Vic20 and Pure mode. So I bet the problem is related to the fact OUYA is not a "normal" Android device with a screen.

There was at one point a time where it did manage to run in Pure Mode on the OUYA, but only once or twice. Ever since, it went back to the C64/Vic20 mode. I was at a loss for words there.

    Does controller(s) work good?

Yeah the controller works fine, only on the D-Pad and the O button; I don't think there's a way to pause the game.

EDIT: It seems from the demo gameplay, when left alone, the ship you control can move slower if you want, but the d-pad is pretty much behaving as a digital controller; albeit when you push right, you go completely right without stopping until you let go.. which means you can't move in analog with the d-pad. I also somehow got it to load in Pure Mode again.. might be how I load the game in the sideloaded apps/games menu with pushing O and the home button or something. It's very puzzling.

I shot Jeff Minter an e-mail to see if there's a possibility if he could create a port for the OUYA. I think the game could get a TON of buys from the OUYA Store if it does, it's an insanely addictive game that definitely could appeal to the market of the OUYA audience. If he ever does consider it, I'd buy it for sure. The only strange thing about the game is that it was taken down from the Mac App Store for the USA network, so I couldn't buy the Mac OS X port of the game if I wanted to; I also shot him an e-mail asking about that as well. This game is just that fun!

As far as I know (personal experience and fans reports) Jeff is very lazy, so he doesn't reply to email, Google+, forums. The only hope is Twitter, but you have to be smart to get his attention and/or very lucky
    Anyway make us know.

That's the thing, I don't use Twitter, someone else is going to have to do it. THIS MUST HAPPEN!

Jeff is currently working on Playstation Vita, doing an update to his Jaguar game Tempest 2000.

I doubt he and Giles will care to sort this out for OUYA... I'm happy to be proven wrong, however.
