    Def - OMGWTFGAMES !1!!

    Def - "Tower Defense Devolved"

    https://www.ouya.tv/game/def/

Def is a unique 'minimalist' tower defense/RTS hybrid with a lighthearted sci-fi story - and extra pheromones !

Stranded on the wrong side of the Rift during an attack on the enigmatic Def Flotilla, you are thrown into the deep end and left to control an unfamiliar alien defense system. But this isn't just about saving your own skin - millions of Def, and the fate of human-Def relations depend on your actions.

    Features:
    • Unique tower defense / realtime strategy hybrid

    • Enemy AI inspired by ants, with pathfinding influenced by pheromone trails

    • Diplomacy matters - guide the conversation with your alien host to gain vital information

    • Quick, pick up and play, seat-of-the-pants campaign chapters

    • Neo-retro visual aesthetic, inspired by actual alien user interfaces !

I saw this video yesterday. I thought it looked rather intriguing. As for the alien UI, what? Actual? Where?

I tried this. Kept getting my backside wooped. It escalates really rather quickly and I wish I just have that little more cash. To avoid getting swamped.

If I can nail it down, I'll give this a purchase. When does the launch sale end?

Thanks for checking it out !
You can change the difficulty under the "?" options ... although it defaults to the easiest level If you are getting swamped on Level 1 of the Story mode, maybe try a different approach (building a 'wall' reasonably close to the spawn and progressively repairing it as it gets destroyed works for me, but I bet other approaches would work too).

If you are getting eventually swamped in the Practise Grid mode with about 60 seconds to go, that's probably to be expected since it's very tough last out the entire time unless you play the early part of the level very well.

This is useful feedback, since it tells me I might need to consider adding a slightly easier mode, or maybe some other practise levels to help teach new players some effective strategies.

At the moment, the launch sale ends 'sometime before November' - is that a terrible way to run a launch sale ? It probably is
I was thinking it would probably run for about 2 weeks.

I would wait to see what other people say about the difficulty. For I can (initially at least) be rather hit + miss when it comes to tower defense games. Some I can be completely useless at like Sanctum or Graturitous Tank Battles on the PC, some are somewhere in between like Orcs must die. Then there's games like the recently OUYA released Myth Defense in which I've stormed through the campaign.

Once I have a handle on the slight nuances and mechanical elements of each though, I can make an impact. It's just about finding something that works, then I'll be OK.

This game is alot of fun! I bought it the first time it asked me to. I would love to see more games of this style.
The first round kicked my butt a few times (wasn't sure what the boomers did at first).
The next couple of rounds I got the hang of things, and it was a blast! I love the art style of the entire game, and everything looks really great on my TV.
The fonts are nice, everything fades together nicely, and the stark color contrasts really make me happy.

I will say that so far, I have only ever just barely won each round, never feeling comfortably ahead at any point.

I really look forward to playing again tonight.

Wasn't sure what to think at first but took a liking to it. The minimal style in both graphics and gameplay with the nice music are cool and quick to get to while the pheromone stuff is pretty unique. Kind of tower defense without waves. At first skipped the story stuff but once I saw it impacted things took the time to read and respond and think it adds to the game nicely. There are a few things I'd like to see changed or improved though:

*Analog controller is a bit too sensitive. I know I can use the dpad for precise control but I end of overshooting my target with the analog stick a lot.

*Crosshair can be hard to pinpoint. Sometimes I'm not sure exactly which square I'm selecting.

*High scores would be very welcome especially for the practice grid or maybe add some kind of infinite mode along the lines of the def compo version.

*Game should pause when showing text during a mission. In the first two missions I ended up getting killed while trying to read the text.

I'd advise running a sale for at least two weeks, that way working folks have an opportunity to get a paycheck and more opportunity to impulse buy before the sale ends.

Jon_TWR - totally agree .. I know some people are only going to turn on their OUYA each Friday night and I don't want anyone to miss it !

Just a reminder - the 50 % off launch sale will finish after October 31st, so anyone that wants to take advantage of it, pounce now !
