I am not a lot on the ouya forums, only to catch up on recent events and post my opinion.
To be honest I also haven't got much of other forums I was personally involved in to compare it to.

So I am only going to talk about what I have noticed.

It attracts people with the same mindset, people who know a thing or 2 about technology.
That is not the case with a forum about some game for example, they have people ranging from "just-smart-enough-to-ask-a-parent-to-install-a-game" to "computer-wizards".
Here, if you say something wrong, you can be sure that someone will correct you, but they will do so decently and give info on why it is wrong.

We have had some trolls, but compared to other forums we can consider ourselves quite lucky.
If someone bashes on the Ouya, there are lots of members ready to counter-attack with sane arguments

I mainly think this is because we are still quite small, most of us have chatted with one or more Admins so we feel quite connected.
We kinda know each other and help out, have our fights, but in the end we are loyal to that little box.

Anyway, I don't know if this is the answer you seek, I haven't read the whole text. (tl;dr)
So my apologies if this isn't a good answer.

I would say that it's of benefit, although the whole idea of it being a "scene" somehow has a bad connotation to me (more than likely just personal fretting over a word). It's great for finding out info, and I especially like how developers can interact with players/customers (and vice-versa) in a direct, immediate, even sometimes meaningful, way. There's a sense of transparency and honesty that I like, that I guess comes with community (especially when the company in question (OUYA) is willing to actually communicate with you).

All that said, I keep the forums at an arm's length in a lot of ways, and choose not to post things that could come across as disparaging too often. I've played into that at other places in the past, and I just neither have the time or fortitude for it these days (losing the fire, some would probably say). As I would assume is the case with many, I have limited free time, so what I choose to do with it is important to me. If something becomes a chore or unpleasant, it's not hard to ignore and move on. That hasn't been the case here, because in general, the members are helpful and really more about the subject-at-hand (OUYA) than any personal pettiness that might arise. Civility and giving people the benefit of the doubt can go a long way in keeping the peace and actually promoting a sense of community, so I'm hopeful that will continue to be the norm here.

Note: Yes, I always sound too serious...

I'm glad we've helped you with your endeavors to pursue OUYA as your initial platform and I'm personally looking forward to your game a lot. I know it may be just a forum and while it's the same with me, I however have met two people that say they can only use forums for proper communication. Something about a disorder and how they can only "be" themselves and "talk" with others through a sort of proxy. Unrelated to us, but I think forums could actually be more than just something to other people.

Its a good thing. And obviously given the amount of purple names I see around, there are plenty of users who value this forum enough to add some financial backing. It has some ... sour grapes to be accounted for but overall its been a useful tool and a helpful community.
The drama is sorta like a crime currently happening. The cops(Staff) are trying to rectify a situation which includes a hostage(you) and the criminal(the idiot). Eventually after everything is settled and the criminal is nothing but a very off brownish-red paste, it can't be helped that there is a public scene going on. It's nobody's doing and it can't be helped.

I've personally heard criticisms about how things are run on this website and how a few staff members go about things, but we're never alone in our decision making. We have a fifteen page thread for our recent incident and some of it is us wishing things would just stop so we can all move on because we're tired of things too. Believe me when I say that. Nobody is above constructive criticisms and even though you guys(i.e. the public) only know half of the story on anything, we'll listen to the community to better ourselves just so long as it isn't stupid criticism. Staff is here to help the community, not damage it.

Private message me what you meant by "clumsy moderating" and I'll explain it as I think I know what you're talking about and can clear things up. Gonna take a wild guess and say it was "thread musical chairs"?

The chatbox on the other hand is a tricky piece of work and we don't want to remove it because of one stinker who keeps coming back via ban dodging as the chatbox is a rich and helpful feature of the forum, but at the same time it's extremely public which means that when this troublemakers slips in again and curses like a sailor it could potentially put OUYAForum in the line of fire from angry parents and displeased members. You can't even imagine how frustrated we are with this whole chatbox thing and we're looking at options, but as far as separate bans it's already being done which is however ineffective. That person just comes back five seconds later with a different I.P every time and we just repeat the process. If you or anyone else has ideas then by all means private message me. Hell, private message me about anything as I'm always here to help in any way that I can.

But the community made you feel welcome and always helped provide answers for questions, wanted to play online games together (Here was Order and Chaos, back then was SEGA's Pocket Kingdom) and overall everyone had a good time with their device and each other.
I too had a metallic taco and it was pretty awesome if I do say so myself. I never once thought there was a community for it for obvious reasons, but it's interesting to think that we're a lot like them.

Usually i can get an answer to my question within a few hrs or at the most a few days. Keep it guys
...Who are you again? Kidding, but I'm glad this community is of some use to you

Glad to hear, Karyyk. You're someone I always enjoy talking to because you're one of those rare types that actually backs up their arguments and it makes for a interesting intellectual discussion. It's like some sort of puzzle game(Puyo-Puyo) talking to you. Fun and rather clever that video game, but if you don't give it your all one-hundred percent of the time then you'll lose the game(discussion).

I originally had created this thread for positive things to say, but there have been some neutral to negative things in the mixed. This is all fine and dandy to me anyways, but could spiral quickly into some rather dark territory. This isn't a fan-boy forum in the least, but I think criticism of any kind towards any person, or party on OUYAForum should remain in private message from now on.

This forum (and you in particular, RS) are the reasons that I haven't just reboxed the Ouya and stuffed it into the closet. This is the only place where I can go where I'm spared the biased negativity about the product. More often than not, if someone has something negative to say here, there's a discussion about it that isn't reduced to 3rd grade bickering.

Honestly, I don't believe in the idea of "THE REVOLUTION" anymore. I wasn't a backer and I came into this skeptical, and I've been careful to check my expectations along the way. I stopped buying games a few months ago and only really have interest in supporting one specific developer (shout out to Nooskewl,) but I still remain hopeful that the little fun cube will eventually start seeing some games that I'll enjoy.

The forum has served to keep me updated, help me tweak the console to what I want it to do, and to act as a source of open chat and entertainment. I check in on new threads a few times a day, and while I don't always contribute, I like to see what people have to say about it (especially developers) to see what's coming down the pipeline.

Yes! I've mentioned elsewhere that this is the first forum I've ever joined. I'm having a great time, and having people to learn from, chat with and argue against is fantastic. My irl friends are not gamers or technologically minded, so this is where I come for some good ouya discussion.

Finally, I think this forum is friendly to people who aren't too knowledgeable about how forums work or social media in general. (Most of the time) someone with a question doesn't get flamed even if it's the millionth time that question has been asked. That makes me happy.

What ouyaforum really helped me with - especially in the early days - was finding a resting place for all my thoughts, concerns, and ideas regarding the Ouya scene as a whole; both as a company, a gaming console, and a revolution.
After having lurked around this forum as a guest since shortly after its launch, I initially registered with an account to come to Eddie with my ideas regarding a news/review site focusing on the Ouya.

Those ideas was what later turned into my Youtube-channel, which - even though temporarily on pause (due to issues with my pc) - I really enjoy doing!

Even though my activity has fallen drastically during the past month and a half due to both university and a laptop-burn-down, I always find joy in browsing ouyaforum, and helping the community stay as alive as possible.
In conclusion, I would like to say that; "yes", ouyaforum has certainly helped me in all the ventures I've had with my little box-of-wonder, and I really look forward to a bright future with the Ouya, ouyaforum, and all of you guys

Sorry, I thought that "yes" explained everything:

    1. The OUYA manual doesn't have as much useful information as what can be found on these forums and can't because OUYA will always be a work in progress.

    2. OUYA being a small company can't offer the kind of tech support that can be found on here.

    3. OUYA's website doesn't give as much information about upcoming and current games.

    4. The forum provides a place for gamers and developers to talk to each other with all the benefits that entails.

    5. The forum provides a place for developers to advertise their games.

    6. The forum provides a way for OUYA representatives to get an idea of what gamers and developers want. I just wish they would stop by more.

    7. The forum provides a place to talk about hacks, modifications, sideloading, and emulation.

    8. The forum provides a sense of community and a way to make friends.

    9. It is a place to talk in general about the only gaming system I'm excited about this generation.

    10. The grey theme of the forums helped me discover that I need to see an eye doctor and it provides Pfizer more profits from Advil.
