Meantime you can redefine in mame settings l2 and r2 as coin start.
Would it not be easier to have a default configuration on autodetect, but then allow manually overriding those defaults in any way you like? It would prevent having to do things like have (rather arbitrary) stick/L1+L2 mappings and add a LOT of flexibility. All it would take, really, is making the "disable the right stick" option not tied to autodetect (default it to on, allow the user to turn it off).

A few more things that IMHO would make it perfect:

    - Turn down the flicker for vector when enabled. WAY down. It's supposed to be rather subtle, not cause convulsions.

    - Allow a separate manual resolution for vector. 1280x1024 makes vector look very, VERY good, but is much too much for raster games.

    - Allow disabling parts of artwork (i.e. separate checks for bezel, background, etc.)

Again, thank you so much for all your effort to date. I did, in fact, manage a build, but I fear I don't speak Java well enough to tackle the above myself, or you'd already have the diffs. =)

Love your emulator! Just a few quick questions and comments. I just picked up an X-Arcade tank stick and would love to see native support for it in this emulator. I have been able to map most of the buttons successfully. I have not been able to get the trackball to work yet and wonder if there is support for it in the emulator? If so how do I configure the trackball? Is there any chance that Die Hard Arcade will work at a reasonable speed? Thanks for all of the hard work!

I would like to keep compatibility with android 2.x... Sadly that's means that the code is a little mess and I should to rewrite a lot stuff. Not time now. Anyway you can turn off auto detect and maps your controller as you want (but you lose analog input), also you can redefine on mame settings pressing coin+start (but exit and menu) on auto detect mode.

I have been testing with different flickering values and seems equals. Maybe is something broken on mame base code. That's means a little research.

Yes. Good point. I would like to add a vector resolution selector in a future update.

Not sure about artwork. It seem complicated but you can use mame artwork options pressing coin + start.

    Thanks

I don't have that controller to develop for, if I get it I will add support for it. Not specific trackball support.

I understand. Any way to have the best of both worlds (i.e. without losing analog)? If not, can we at least not lose the right stick? I *need* my Robotron. =)

I'll play around with the flicker levels in MAME and see what stacks up to an aging Asteroids cab here.

Hi I'm wondering if mame4droid works with roms with chds? if so how do i get it to work?

Can someone help with an idiot free guide to installing the Rom files.... I currently have them all on a 32GB stick... i can get them to run on that Retro-whatever app but i prefer the MAME4Andeoid..... Also, when i'm up and running, is there a way to configure it with a PS3 controller?

    thanks!

Far as I know there hasn't been a phone based MAME build yet that will run .CHD files.

I think it has something to do with not having the "UML back-end ARM dynamic recompiler" which is needed to mimic the more powerful CPUs found on the newer hardware.
