A few suggestions: IRC Channel - Longer timeout times one site.

Love the idea of the chatbox is nice and it works but the benefits of IRC tend to outweigh it in many ways:
- Personal Chats between users
- Wider user base
- Easy to moderate
- ETC

Maybe look into doing that? - I would suggest freenode as the network. I know there are VB mods that let you integrate IRC right into the site (I did this once or twice when I was running my VB site a few years ago - site is no longer on the nets

)

The other one I have is a longer period of time before the site times us out.
I will be writing a long post only to get kicked off the site before my post is ready.
This one is really just a personal peeve if someone could point me to where my drafts are then I wont really care as much.

I agree on time out. But you can pm specific people already with the new chat.

We've discussed IRC twice before and both times it was either too hard to implement into the forum, or just not enough of an improvement to go through all the work. I don't know what you mean by wider user base as a IRC channel won't help any of that at all. Personal chats between users are already implemented and "easy to moderate" is our problem as Staff of OUYAForum. What is this ETC you're speaking of as I'm unfamiliar with that internet lingo?

We can edit the idle time-out right now. I'll tell Eddie K to change it as soon as possible.

lol. ETC is just etc, or Et cetera. Probably threw you off being in that list.

Irc's aren't hard to implement they are pretty throw up and let it go. I'm not sure where the difficulty comes in? VBulletin should be pretty Irc friendly. Shoutbox is just a ripoff of Irc in a sense and less "live" than irc. By userbase he probably just meant people familiar with it. And it offers more customization options like visuals, and rooms and stuff. Also you can set up auto moderation. A bot that will greet people, show them rules, send out warnings and auto infract if they continue. And if you set up you're own irc people could connect from an irc program instead of having to be on the site. If you worked with a dev you could probably get a pretty easy irc chat app for ouya that connects straight to it. IRC is just a platform and is really flexible you could add all kinds of stuff to it.

The only issue I see on the list is the time out thing unless I missed something. There are PMs and all that on this new chat. Go through the options and you'll find it.
It just opens a new tab on the chat for the personal messages.
I hated the new chat before but kind of used to it now even though I don't use it as much.

To private chat someone in the chatbox, you want to click on their user-name and click "Send Private Message".

Yeah the only issue I see like most others is the time-out time. I'd love to disable this completely if possible.

I leave the site up most the day just to keep an eye on chat and I hate it when I go to respond to something and realize it's had me timed out for the last 2 hours in chat. The last chatbox I could never say a word and just watch it without it ever timing out.
