Check and make sure your comics are in CBZ, not CBR format. It shouldn't have any issues reading CBZ, and takes up less system memory than CBR. If you need to convert any of your comics I suggest ComicRack, it works great, and has batch conversion.

I might be able to add CBR support later, if not in the next update, I'll try soon after.

From what I understand Comixology uses a proprietary format to display their comics, however it is still possible to convert them to a recognizable format, Youtube & Google are your friend.

All CBR and cbz files are just .zip (cbz) and .rar (CBR) with the file extensions renamed. If your file doesn't work rename the extension appropriately and extract. Repack to .zip, rename the extension to .cbz and you should be fine. You don't need any special tools to convert formats.

This is true, you can even write scripts to automate the process, the only reason I suggest ComicRack is for batch conversion, as it can be come tedious to repack large amounts of files.

True. I figured it would be good to let people know who didn't already. It's something you can even do on your Android phone or tablet with a decent file explorer in a pinch.

Updated the original post, and added some new screenshots.

If everything goes well I'll have the new update out in a couple of days with CBR support, and a few cosmetic enhancements.

Mean while please download, like, and anything else to help it out of sandbox is much appreciated.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the tip on Comic Rack, it does wonders for converting a large number of files. Now I can read comics with no problem. Loving the program.

I currently have the new update approved and ready to publish however I am debating on holding off a little bit to rework the icons, I'm not yet sure if I'm satisfied with them, and would like to have something permanent before the next release as to not confuse people by changing them later on.

I might post a few concepts and take a vote if time allows, or ask for some user feedback/contributions, unless I settle for the current iteration.

It's possible, but unfortunately not something I see being implemented in the near future. The problem there is that Comics Reader basically supports image files that can be viewed with in a zip/rar container, where PDF's can contain various image/txt formats that would create a lot of incompatibilities, and additional support.

It's possible I might be able to port over a PDF reader that may be compatible with a few other formats not offered by CR, but I think that would mostly serve another purpose, and I don't know how much of a demand for it there would be.

I had figured it would be a total hassle. I hate the PDF format, but hey, I take what I can! I'll probably have to wait for some sort of reader application to be able to check those out.
