SharkSketch to publish Friday, Sept. 27th

Hello! My name is Tony and this year I embarked on a new venture developing mobile apps. Over the last 7 months, I have been learning a lot about the joys and woes of developing on mobile devices, but overall I am really enjoying the experience. I am developing an app called "Sea Animal City," which is an interactive storybook for children who like picture books, but within that app are lots of other "mini" apps that do a variety of things. One of them is a basic drawing tool called SharkSketch.

I decided it would be a fun way for me to learn about what is involved in publishing an app on OUYA (or any other) marketplace by creating a standalone version of the app and adding in OUYA controller support. It wasn't too difficult to do, but it definitely made me realize that I should consider controller support before designing future apps for efficiency.

The app itself is simple: you move a cursor around on the screen and you can draw whatever you want! There are options for brush and background color, erasing and clearing the screen. As you spill more ink on the screen, things slow down quite a bit, I had to enforce a limit of how much ink you get. For a $1 in-app purchase, you get undo, save, change brush size and feature updates as I develop them. Hey, I had to learn about in-app purchases somehow!

SharkSketch will be published on Friday, September 27th. I don't know if that means it will be available on Friday or if it will be sometime later. It will be interesting to find out. At any rate, I hope those of you that download it and play with it enjoy it. For those of you who send me the $1 for the extra features, I thank you in advance!
