Always be Shipping - Portabliss (James Hostetler)

Always be Shipping is a simple relaxation app/game. It focuses on putting you on a drifting boat in the middle of nowhere. Listen to the relaxing ocean sounds as you stare off into the distance and hope that the developer put something in for you to see. A true boating experience, Always be Shipping is for anyone and everyone who wants to know what it's like to be lost on a boat.

    DEV NOTE:

I made Always be Shipping in order to get an understanding of the OUYA hooks for Unity, the input settings, and the process of getting something submitted. Right now it's a pet project whereby I hope to expand the game to manually controlling the boat's sail in a first-person perspective, and being able to drift around. Eventually, if I stick with it, you'll be able to see islands and explore them. In its current state, it's nothing more than a simple relaxation app that puts you on a boat listening to the sounds of the sea.

And also, I'm always making something. If you want to know what I'm up to you can follow me @metkis for updates and bad puns.

I also thought of Just Rain when I first saw this in Discover. I actually like the sound of the sea as well as rain, so I went ahead and gave this a thumbs up. We suspected it probably was a test project on the developers part to get to know OUYA, and now I know for sure.

This is pretty sweet proof of concept. Very basic, yet satisfying. Would love to see you expand on it, even if its just the visual exploration.

I like the app, but I feel like more can be added. Maybe a few birds, fishes, islands, a few clouds moving around the sky, etc... Maybe you can make the user interact with the sea creatures. Like for example, maybe the user can feed the animals and see them react to it. Like TripleX said, it seems a bit basic. I like the concept though and the application is good. Just has some room for improvements.

The boat reminds me of Wind Waker for some reason.

    Edit:

Just read your dev notes lol... Okay...

Exactly how I felt when I first tried it. He's really got a good style going for it to make it something that can be basic and fun for everybody.

Yeah, I totally agree. Kids can enjoy this sane game as much as adults can. Fair play indeed.

I like it. Add weather, waves, random things/events to sail past. This could be Ouya's Johnny Castaway.
