    Updates for version 1.1

    • Fixed some minor menu bugs
    • Fixed a problem where the menu song was playing multiple instances on one of the game screens
    • Reduced alpha of the background stars so that enemy bullets do not blend in so much
    • Added some variance to the grouped enemy movement patterns between levels

I really loved how fast-paced the action was. I was expecting just a Space Invaders clone, but it's so fast that it's far more enjoyable than that is now. Dug the music a lot and it controls like a dream. Good job.

I like the style and the gameplay, and I bought the game.

The biggest area for improvement, though, is that it really needs some more variety in the gameplay -- for instance, different enemy formations or behaviors. The levels tend to feel nearly identical, so after a little while it's something of a slog. I know that's similar to the original Galaxian, but it's much more noticable here due to the faster tempo and easier overall difficulty.

First of all thanks for the purchase!

I do agree with you. The speed increases every level and the chance that an enemy can fire at you increases as well. I can see where between say level 1 and 2 it doesn't feel like much difference, but between say 1 and 12 there would be a sense of increased difficulty. The next update will have more group formation movement patterns to help with this. Meaning the when enemies are moving in a group it will not always be left to right. I think this will help a bit.

I see you are on the top of the leader board! How far did you get if you dont mind me asking?

Also just for context, part of what plays into the pace being faster and the overall difficulty being a little easier is that I made the decision to allow the player to have more than one bullet on the screen at a time. If notice in Galaxian your rate of fire is limited by 1 bullet at a time. This makes the game feel really slow. I really didnt like how it felt in my game which is why I increased it a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. My goal is to make sure the game is fun and competitive to play!

I died shortly after the second boss; so probably around level 22 or so. Honestly, I probably could have gone further, but kind of stopped trying at that point since it was getting kind of repetitive .. which is why I made the comment above.

On the subject of potential changes to movement patterns to keep things interesting, have you considered formations like in Galaga? I always liked how the enemies flew onto the screen in small groups and joined the larger formation, and then would also break off into small groups and attack. It might not really affect the difficulty much, but it does give some variety. And since your game is basically an updated Galaxian, taking inspiration from Galaga would seem to be appropriate.

Yeap, that is something I have toyed around with, in fact I have something like that implemented but I haven't released it yet because I haven't been able to get it to behave exactly like I want it yet.

I submitted an update last night that included a slight modification to the grouped enemy movement patterns so there is more variance from level to level. Ill improve on this more in the future.

Thanks again for the feedback. I really appreciate it and will keep improving the game!
