    WIP: Gamecube Ouya

Hey, first post here! I have a spare Gamecube lying around (they're $5 at Goodwill anyway) so I've decided to turn it into an Ouya! I'd like some help though.
Link for those who can't view embeds: http://i.imgur.com/bKm1aCO.jpg

I've been browsing these forums for a while and know that you're a great community, so I'm not worried about someone "stealing" this idea because I do intend to sell this once it's finished. If any of you have experience in this field, could you point me towards a good USB hub that would work in the manner that I outlined in my diagram? Like one with the USB ports on short cords instead of all set into a bar of some sort. Also, would the SD card ports work at all? Obviously the Ouya doesn't have SD ports in the first place so I don't know if they'd be recognized as external storage. What would you change, re-arrange, etc?

My last question is regarding the "Reset" button on the Gamecube. Is there a way for me to program that button to quit to the Ouya home menu? Would it require a software mod as well? (I.e. root)

Thanks for taking a look and any help you provide! I'm reeeally excited about this project and am just raising money for the spare Ouya to do it as I already have custom cases on mine.

Nice I cant help much but it might be hard to find a 4 usb hub i bought 2 on ebay and neither one worked but i did find a 4 at biglots but had to do work on it adding wire part to reach were I wanted them to

If you are adding an External harddrive like what I'm using you would end up with 5 usb's and idk if the ouya could handle this
I don't know much about this stuff but what I've learned here so might be a question best left to someone that knows a lil more *coughs* Skylar xD

I hope ppl can give you great advice and help you as much as they did me ^^

Thanks guys! That acrylic case looks sooooo sweet, man. I did find a USB hub that I could use: http://www.amazon.com/Black-4-Port-H..._bxgy_pc_img_y It's cheap and the ports are cords instead of a bar which is exactly what I wanted.

How are you gonna add an SD slot?

I've been looking at card readers on Amazon and other sites, but none of them have individual SD readers that are bare bones.

So I have no idea, but I'm hoping that I'll find a way! If it reeeeally comes down to it, I'll end up putting two USB hubs in the system. One for controllers and one internally. I'll plug an SD to USB reader into it and hope for the best.

that engraved gamecube case would be a perfect mini gamecube mod if it just had the right colors.

Check out this post: http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...ports-for-Ouya That should start you on the right track for the USB mod.

There are a few people who have tested a USB SD card reader here: http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...s-w-Speed-Test and here: http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...ya-Accessories , so we know that some of them can work. I would be wary of tying too many things into the Ouyas USB port though as it doesn't supply tons of power. Check out Wraith_Vagues project thread for more information on Ouya storage issues: http://ouyaforum.com/showthread.php?...Wraith-Project

That would be a toughie. Currently it's a double tap to the OU controller button that takes us back to the Home menu. I wouldn't even know how to go about making that work, haha. I'm sure some smart cookie will chime in though.

Welcome aboard OUYAforum and I'm sure many of us will be watching your progress with interest. Have fun!
