The Chicken Bandit! - SharkArm Brothers

    Hey everyone!

Our game The Chicken Bandit was just released on Ouya! You play as a Cowboy riding on your trusty chicken sidekick as you collect loot from trains and shoot robotic lawmen that get in your way.

The free version lets you play the complete first world. The full version is $4.99 and contains 3 more worlds and 3 special modes.

I'd love to hear what you guys think!

If you want to check out some other games that we've done you can go to: www.SharkArmStudios.com

    Thanks!

I tried it out last night. It's a cool game. Wound up buying it. It's fun, with a novel twist on a genre not utilized enough in games to begin with. We really should see more good Western games like this. It might be a good idea to speed up the lasso's return though. I find myself too often waiting for it too come down to be able to shoot enemies, especially when there's an obstacle that needs to be broken down first. It sometimes just kinda floats there, and you get impatient as you need to multitask, but can't. It's a minor thing, but would likely make the experience more fluid.

Let's see, the cowboy is riding a horse already, and you expect him to reign in a lasso AND shoot as well? I can't see that working out very well for the guy

I really enjoyed the mechanics and design, bought the game and have been really loving it. The 'red' boxes around buttons are a bit ugly though

The concept of the game is interesting. My problem with it is the fact that the aiming controls & lasso are tied to the right analog. I would rather see the lasso mapped to a swipe on the touch pad. Sort of like a swipe up to throw it out ,and once grabbed swipe down to pull it in.

This way you can continue to shoot down the baddies while collecting the loot. It was mainly that akwardness of the controls that made me stop playing

The look of it reminds me of Wild Guns on SNes. I'll have to check this out
I'm amazing, you probably just haven't realized it yet.

Hi guys thanks for the feedback! Tying the lasso and shooting together was an intentional game design choice. We wanted to make it risky to grab the loot, so you can't fire back at an enemy while trying to grab treasure.

Glad you guys are having fun with the game!

The first thing I thought of when I started playing this game last night was the old mid-80s arcade game Western Express. I think the game had a few different names.

Anyway, played for 1/2 hour or so and then bought the game. Lots of fun.

Does it only work with controller #1?
I only have controller 2 & 3 since my controller #1 broke and can't do anything in the main menu.
On a side note anyone know how to change my controller #3 to #1? Can I clear data in the advanced/apps/bluetooth share and re-pair them? thx

@kev: I don't think the controller numbers is based on the order you paired them. Try turning off the console completely by holding in the power button (instead of doing it with the controller.) When it powers back on you should be able to turn on your controllers in the order you want them to be.

@thehole88: I'm glad you liked the game! I don't think we'll be making any additional levels for this game, but we've been working on some new Ouya games including a 4 player multiplayer game.

@jsbac: Someone mentioned Western Express to me before while I was working on this game. I've never actually played it but the horse riding part does look pretty similar! I need to try that game out some time. Thanks for playing and I'm glad you like it!
