Looks good so far.
Hi all, we've got an alpha release coming out soon for our upcoming game, Heroes of Issachar. The game is, at its heart, an action RPG. At the beginning of the game, the player is tasked with rebuilding a town and castle ravaged by the bad guys.
Each quest the player will, besides finding loot, collect resources for rebuilding the castle. How the player uses the resources and designs the castle will matter, because periodically the castle will be attacked by the bad guys. In this way, the game pulls from some of the best elements of ARPG, castle builders and tower defense.
On top of all of that, during any quest or castle defense, the player will have the ability to summon reinforcements from heroes he's rescued along the way. Those heroes will have special abilities of their own, have their own gear, and will level up alongside the main player.
This is a faith-based game. The backdrop of the game has the player not only rebuilding the town, but collecting scripture from the town's stolen Bible as well. We've designed the game in such a way that the faith element is delivered in between missions, so our hope is that for those of you who are interested, it can add to the story; for those of you who think it's all hocus pocus, it's simply another interesting theme no different than Zeus or the Force, but not an intrusive element to the game.
We're releasing an alpha build shortly that is still very raw and would love to get feedback on it. We have a few different directions we're thinking about taking the combat system, but before we do, we want to hear from the players. Thanks in advance!

The game looks bloody amazing, and sounds it to. Very excited to try this.
Any dates on the alpha build? Will happily provide beta feedback for yourselfs. Genuinely looking forward to getting this going. Seems like its not your average game considering you'd need to build your own castle with some form of idea.
Good job.
Thanks for the kind words! We're hoping to submit the alpha any day now. There's a couple of pieces of art I'm waiting on and then we're gonna let it fly.
As for the castle building - we have high hopes for that. It will be fairly freeform in terms of laying each castle out, so players should have a ton of fun with it. Right now that module is very raw, but the beginning framework is there.
The final vision has its inspiration from of a mix of Stronghold (or Castles for us older folk), Baldur's Gate and Dungeon Defenders. So, we will be squeezing every last drop out of the OUYA.
I'll be sure to post here when the alpha goes live.

I'd love an option for first person view... But this is my kind of game so I'll probably play this anyways.
I'm geting more and more excited about the new ouya games , the most amazing games are being posted here daily, I just love the background of this one, the first thing that I can think is that it need to have other controlers support , because the ouya controller can be really annoying some times
This game looks awesome! - I can't wait to try it. I also love how you chose to add the "faith based" game element. I am a believer and a gamer, so I am excited on 2 levels
You are right - people read fictional lore from greek, norse mythology, etc and they get excited about the fictional force. By using scripture, you can expose them to something REAL, and something that could really impact their lives in a positive way. I hope the game is incredible and a huge success for you guys.
God Bless
We are definitely going to play around with the views. I am toying with an over the shoulder 3rd person view, and if we do that, first person is an easy toggle. The very first prototype had a toggle between far isometric, near iso and over the shoulder. I'll throw that back in when I get a chance.

For this first alpha it doesn't have other controller support, but we will definitely support other controllers in upcoming builds.
Thanks for the post and encouragement! We hope that all of our players come away from HOI saying they played a really fun, high-quality game; and if the message speaks to some of them, well then that would be awesome.
