The two reasons there are no good games on the OUYA are a. They're lazy, and won't allow stuff to be ported over to the system, and b. No Google Play support.
Gamasutra is looking for articles about Android microconsoles, and there's my 2 cents on the matter:

It's probably crap, because my english is not that good, but I may be right about a few things.

Stop with the Google Play support, it has been discussed to death and deemed that it's not going to happen.
It is reasonable to understand why they want a new ecosystem instead of Google Play, and it's not like many other reasonable improvements that the community is waiting for.
I still don't understand why anyone would want GP support. Only a puddle of "phone ports" on the console and they want an ocean of it. Makes sense.
Article was okay. Needs better sentence structure in my opinion. Also... Nobody gives a crap about Google Play.

I agree that Google Play makes no sense. I want games made for TV, I don't want mobile games (probably not even landscape format).
Also, multitouch is very common, which isn't an option for OUYA (and would be crappy, too).
I don't mind no google play support as long as there is easily accessible way to install it, which I believe the current update killed. 1 reason being that most of the stuff doesn't have controller support, 2nd half the stuff that does, won't even work properly, crashes, etc. However for a system like OUYA it's hard to say screw google play, when you need it to install youtube, Netflix, crackle, onlive, etc, etc, etc. If those thing were already offered in the discover store there may be some argument but as long as they aren't having another way to access them is at least relevant.
This is where I think a lot of these micro consoles are going to fall short, MOJO is boasting google play, but without apps including controller support who cares, you've been able to do the same thing with mini PC sticks for a couple of years now, and SHIELD is an expensive portable device, so it doesn't really fit in the same category if you ask me.
Software developers are going to make or break these new consoles, if they continue to give more of their apps controller support and make them compatible with more of these devices then they will flourish, if however they stick to the idea that android is only meant for portable touch screen devices then these system are not going to progress or ever see mainstream attention.

Its fair if you understand how Android updates work. This will continue to happen as they replace system files.
I for one and glad to be rid of GP. If I want phone games I have a phone. Bad enough we have a few phone ports already lol. Last thing we need is that shovelware
Well. Then don't buy anything Android.. Because that's how it works. This is why ROM's for rooted Android devices STOP updates from happening. Any official Android update from the Manufacturer will always break root. If/when there are more ROMS for OUYA then you can jump on that and not have to worry. This is not necessarily OUYA's fault.
