2player for Ouya is a network media player for, that allows you to play music, video, and pictures stored on Windows computers, and DLNA Media Servers on your home network. Based on the enormously successful 2player for Android, 2player for Ouya brings a solid mature media codebase, along with a fresh new UI carefully optimized for use with joystick controllers.
Features:
- Play music, video or pictures from your Windows computer without installing custom software on your Windows computer (use Windows Media Sharing).
- Play music, video or pictures from DLNA and UPnP media servers on your home network.
- Simplified user interface built for use with a joystick controller.
- Play media from (preferably) external USB thumb drives and hard-drives attached to your Ouya console.
- Remotely controllable using DLNA remote controllers (such as 2player for Android).
- Customizable background image.
- Download and automatic syncing of network media.
- A built-in DLNA media server allows you to share local content with DLNA devices on your network.
I'd be happy to answer questions or comments here in the forums. Or you can contact us at support at two-play.com.

It does not support smb playback; but it will play quite happily from Windows Media Shares (DLNA-based), and does not require homegroup access to do so.

Looks awesome. Thanks for supporting OUYA, not something I see myself using too much but know others here will.

Windows can share files and folders with connected computers, but it requires fairly complicated permissioning and logins to access those files (and the homegroups feature in Windows 7 and 8 make it very difficult for non-Microsoft software to access those shares).
Windows provides a much simpler solution for sharing media: Windows Media Sharing, which shares just music, videos and pictures using the DLNA media sharing protocol, and doesn't require any passwords at all, as long as you're on a home network. Here's a link to one of our support pages that describe how to turn Media Sharing on: http://two-play.com/configuring_windows.htm.
I've already got my permissioning set lol. Can read with bubble upnp and xbmc and es file explorer. Does this store a cache of information so it doesn't have to load everytime it opens?

k. Then you're set to go. (Bubble UPnP uses DLNA Media Shares, not SMB share, for what it's worth, so 2player should be ready to go as well). It caches artwork, but browsing is done live. It can be a bit slow if you browse the list of all track in a large music library; but browsing via album or searches is pretty responsive even without caching.
I have a few hundred gigs of music/videos but its set in music>artists>albums so I should be okay. Can we get a supported media types list?
