    Frozen Bubble - Aleksander Fedorynski

This game is a derivative of the free, open source game Frozen Bubble, originally developed by Guillaume Cottenceau for Linux, and originally ported to the Android operating system by Pawel Aleksander Fedorynski based on the Java port by Glenn Sanson.

Since this game is open source, the branch of the project created for the OUYA console is available here:

    How To Play

This game is based on the classic Neo-Geo arcade bubble popping puzzle game Puzzle Bobble/Bust-A-Move.

Knock the bubbles down by making clusters of three or more bubbles of the same color by aiming and launching a bubble. Try to clear all the bubbles before they reach the bottom of the screen to advance to the next level in Puzzle mode, or clear the screen before the opponent does to win in Player versus CPU mode. The bubble rebounds off of the walls, and sticks to the ceiling or other bubbles it collides with. You lose if the bubbles get too close!

Aim carefully to make shots that pass between gaps in the bubbles - you can adjust the bubble collision sensitivity in the game options to make this easier or more difficult.

You can also swap the launch bubble with the next bubble by pressing down on the direction pad.

I love Puzzle Bobble, and this is a pretty well done clone.

    P.s.
The musics are .MOD files from Amiga free musics! I remember a lot of these tracks! Listened them 20 years ago ^^

That's right on the money. Most of the songs date from the early to mid 90's, and have been used before in a fair number of games.

It's been so long, I figured what is old is now new again.

This has always been a great game. When I converted to Linux about 6-7 years ago, this was always at the forefront of a quick and casual play session. If I wasn't playing this, then I was sinking untold amounts of hours into Battle for Wesnoth.

That's another game that needs a port. It's already on Google Play. Androth Softworks (who Android ported this with permission from David White) need to make it happen!

The controller focus needs to be set on the menu at start-up really. The controller does work on the menu, but only after you have tapped an option on the touch pad. Otherwise, it's OK for a straight android port

Very addictive. Wish it was 2 player co-op. Even so, great pick up and play game.

If you could be so kind, how would this be accomplished?

I got lucky in that the game itself already has the controller focus, apparently, but I have never actually tested this on the OUYA, as I ported this as a user request and don't actually have a console. I added code to make the buttons focusable and request the focus of the last selected button on startup (defaulting with Puzzle), but I guess this didn't work. Maybe I should make the button selected as well, in addition to being focused?

2 player adversarial will be in the next version, actually. The first step was adding the CPU opponent, as that code was already available from Glenn Sanson. Now I just need switch the input for player 2 over to being provided by a second input device.

Hi there! I wasn't being snarky - I was just pointing out that the game is almost 100% working with the controller, aside from the buttons not being selectable until you hit one with the touchpad. On startup, nothing is highlighted, you have you use the touch pad to do so, and then can use the controller from that point on.

I would suggest that selecting an option on startup as well as being focused may fix this. Feel free to PM me, I'll be happy to test an APK for you on my Ouya here prior to submission. I have multiple controllers too, if that helps.
