Patrick you beat me to it, I was going to ask the same question, I have a working version sideloaded, will the"official" version work better than that?

Hey, Koying here (the guy who made the port). Some pointers:

    - the official ouya xbmc uses a different signature, so you can have both the side loaded xbmc alphas and the Ouya one on your device, and they will use separate configs.
    - ethernet on ouya is acting strangely for some, since a couple of firmware updates. This can lead to the app freezing and eventualy dropping to launcher. If ethernet is not behaving, switch to wi-fi and check what's best for you.
    - this is a stable (as stable as xbmc can be ) frodo port. It's far easier to support a stable version. If you have issues I can actually reproduce, I'll fix them

    Enjoy

Oh, and if you are happy with your side loaded, accelerated, xbmc, no reason to change really.
You won't get more from the official one, beside, supposedly, stability.

All of this just sounds disappointing. What took them SO long to get it out officially and then we just get a crappy, unstable port?

    Another one
This is an Ouya fork, unsupported by the official xbmc team.
Don't even try bugging them with issue on this

I might be missing something here, but what do people actually use XBMC for? Streaming news and radio channels?

i use xbmc t owatch tv shows/films ive downloaded on my harddrive. Also try to stream films etc through it but it doesn't work all that well for me tbh

1: I installed mx player. Although the app itself won't stay launched (wrong version maybe? ), it plays videos through xmbc no problem. Could that help people with video quality problems?

2: The menu would never let me choose "Android apps' whenever I wanted to. It just doesn't register the button press or mouse click. Has that been fixed?

3: The video plugons for websites including YouTube never work. Do they now?

I honestly don't know what the fuss is with xmbc; it seems to be a buggy launcher that hardly launches anything. Why is it so popular and why bother using it, as is, on the OUYA? Surely using bespoke apps for various functions is better as they probably have a higher chance of working?

Excellent news. I'll replace my unofficial one with this.

Does this version fix the menu crashing bug? The only way I can explain what I mean is that you'll be in the menu randomly doing something and it will freeze and take you back to the ouya menu.

By adding a custom tile logo and compiling with Ouya Framework so it appears in the play section.

    No it does not.

I'm gonna hold off for an official release of Gotham from the XBMC team on Ouya.
