Latest News about Minecraft on OUYA

Just to keep you guys updated. Today we learn that not much has changed as far as Minecraft goes for OUYA. The answer from @MojangSupport was:

Minecraft has not been announced as an OUYA title. ^MW
Not really sure what will happen with this one. Last month @notch (Markus Persson) said via twitter:
See, the problem with Minecraft for the Ouya is that it's android, and our android version of Minecraft isn't exactly that super great.
Perhaps we won't ever see it. Perhaps they are still waiting to see if OUYA make a big enough splash to warrant a port.

Damn it. I'd be happy if they just added controller support to the current version for now.

This is extremely faulty logic. The OUYA isn't an android phone its just happens to use android OS. Minecraft is written in java. Java runs natively on android. Get it done already.

Yes, maybe, but the android version is a bit clunky as notch said.

However, the OUYA is quite powerful, for what it is, so I hope to see Minecraft at some point in the future.

Notch has also commented a lot of times about making minecraft completely open source once it has lost its spark, and has frowned upon developers who don't do the same, so there is always that possibility but I would suspect it will be a long time from now due to popularity and licensing reasons, if truly ever.

Note: Minecraft was heavily influenced by the game Infiniminer which is currently opensource.

This isn't so much a knock at the Ouya or Android as much as it is the Android version of Minecraft. I'm not a big fan of Minecraft (don't have that many hours in the day people), but even a quick and dirty port would be better than nothing. Not really sure that's Notch's style though...

Question: Minecraft has a web version. Can you play the full Minecraft over the net on the Ouya?

Yeah the android version is garbage compared to the PC version (because they made it to where it can run on low end devices) but what's stopping them from branching off the android version to make a ouya specific version that will not be garbage. Yes it will take a little bit of time, it seems as though notch doesn't want to put forth that effort.

And that effort would pay off cause most OUYA owners would probably buy it (even if it was $30).

But anyways who needs notch and minecraft when they can have a better clone that's currently on android (showing that android devices can run it with most of PC minecrafts features)

Android is based off Linux... Is he trying to diss Linux?... Nobody disses Linux and gets away with it. Nobody.

    Edit:

This. We don't need him. So far we've survived 2 month's without him. He'll probably hop on board later on if the console is more successful. We can survive with other games.
