so, games that are ready for consumption should not be in the sandbox. like super mega worm. that seems like it was a complete game from the get go. shouldnt have been in the sandbox. or bobby, that game didnt appeal to me but it was in the sandbox for a relatively long time (couple of weeks) but it was a real game ready to go.

overall, i dont really know anything either.

my main points would be that it is early and better games will come/shine through. the ouya is pretty great, the devs that communicate freely with consumers on here are awesome. and if everyone comes at it from a "lets make everything EVEN BETTER" angle, then everything will get better!

however, i think the solution lies in the hands of the ouya team and laying out a stronger framework for games that they allow in the store. or (i know this is unpopular) allowing people to DIS-like games that aren't good enough to be in the store.
The games that don't go into sandbox typically have already proven themselves on other platforms, and likely have a deal with OUYA, but why should games like Super Mega Worm and Bobby not have to be in the sandbox, because they are complete games? They still need to prove them selves as having some sort of consumer appeal, complete doesn't necessarily mean enjoyable.

OUYA has left the decision in our hands in regards to the open platform, if the general public likes a game it will make it out of sandbox and up the O-Rank, so if the store is full of crap and games aren't getting better, only developers and customers are to blame.

    I don't agree with a dislike button.

I also don't agree with a dislike button...I may not like it but that doesn't mean its not good, just not my thing. and seeing dislikes might discourage the developer from bringing other games that are more my type of game to the OUYA.

i don't agree with a dislike button either.

but a way to dislike games would be helpful. like when you delete a game from the ouya if there were a quick mandatory poll like: why are you deleting this game? 1. to free up space 2. it is buggy 3. i just didnt like it

    or whatever.

I find it ironic that people would welcome a YouTube app on OUYA that includes all videos rather they are good or bad but not have the same standard for OUYA games that they do for YouTube videos. Every OUYA is a developer's unit and every owner can develop for it. YouTube is to videos what OUYA is to video games. The back of the box says,"Ever want to make a game? Go ahead. OUYA comes with what you need to get coding and get famous." That means the only excuse a developer needs to post the worst game on the planet is that they own an OUYA just like the only excuse someone who posts the worst video in the world on YouTube needs is that they own a webcam. The OUYA is the YouTube of the video game world.

It doesn't even matter if there are eventually 10,000 games with only 1,000 of them being excellent because the O-RANK will bring those 1,000 to the top of every list, category, and genre. YouTube started out small just like OUYA. YouTube videos are based on views and likes similar to the O-RANK. YouTube went from only being videos of people showing their cats falling off their couches to quality shows that causes me to barely watch Direct TV. The OUYA is new. Give it time. Eventually you will have to be a masochist to find the buried shovelware.

Not checking the like button is a dislike. If you check the like button, get farther in the game, and then change your mind then you can unlike it before or even after deleting the game.

I can for the most part agree with what your saying, only difference being that youtube doesn't require a credit card, and no one is asking you to pay half way through a video to finish watching their cat fall off the couch. I get what your saying though.

I think there is a high level of rubbish games on Ouya.

But there's a good amount of good stuff too to play whilst waiting for others and Ouya is trying to get other good games over, so you just need patience.

I recommend - Gaurodan, Gunslugs, Saturday Morning RPG, Pizza Boy, Sine Mora and at a push, Raiden Legacy. These should be enough to keep you busy for a while and if you dont have another gaming platform to play too, then you can always get a SNES/ Megadrive emulator on.

Things are getting better for Ouya.

They are getting paid for the adds in their videos. Also, YouTube has paid subscription channels that are required to have a free to try 14-day free trial and you pay for them through Google Wallet. It's different but both have free content and content for making a profit with free to try. They just go about it differently. They go about things slightly different but for the most part YouTube is open indie video and OUYA is open indie video game. I think my analogy is a little more than an analogy. The only fundamental difference is that YouTube runs on practically everything while OUYA has its own hardware.

AW: Its sad that the games I emulate on the Ouya

I really like your Youtube analogy. Makes it way easier to accept the huge amount of, well, "okay" games with few great ones. Also, it could change this discussion from different opinions to being about a good way to highlight the great games, stopping them from being drowned out, and also giving users a way to quickly be confronted with them, just as youtube does.
The new menu does a good job about that, actually.

Actually its not. Just because someone doesn't hit the like button doesn't mean he/she doesn't like it, maybe they somehow overlook the like button, or just forget about clicking the like button.

The like button can be abused, just like a dislike button. Which defeats the whole purpose of what its intended use is.

maybe instead of a like or dislike button the game info screen can show how many times it was downloaded and subsequently deleted. we could see that the game was downloaded 300 times and deleted 299 times. it gives the potential consumer an idea of where the majority is at with the game. it doesn't say why though and i think that is important.

i dont know what the "o-rank" really is. i think it is ouya just pushing forward certain games and saying that everyone likes them (like towerfall, it was "meh" to me, but it is at the forefront of every screen and list i see...or at least it was up until this new update).

i agree with madmax that not checking the like button says absolutely nothing. i didnt even notice the like buttons until i found the forums. and i checked the like buttons for a week or two, but that really isn't my kind of thing. if a person downloaded a game automatically triggered a "like" and deleting a game triggered an "unlike" that would be different.
