    Productivity software

I know this is probably a strange topic, but has anyone else tried side loading productivity software onto their Ouyas? So far I have tried Polaris Office 4.0 and Kingsoft Office. Polaris wouldn't work at all for me. Kingsoft on the other hand seemed to work pretty well, though I did have some trouble naming a saved file. If anyone else has experience in this area, I would love to hear what you have tried and what you have found to work. I'm mostly referring to MS Office type applications but other types of productivity software (graphic design, taxes/accounting, CAD, etc.) would be interesting as well. My end goal is to see if the Ouya could serve as a general purpose computing device.

I have not tried it, no, but since the hardware of the Ouya compares just fine to that of some of the newest smartphones around, it should be able to do simple office tasks just fine.
I'm unsure why anyone would use the Ouya above a laptop or pc for such purposes but I'm quite sure it would work just fine - if you can get the apps running correctly, that is.

My thinking as to why anyone would want to use their Ouya this way is twofold. First, it seems like it could serve as a low cost alternative for the extremely budget-conscious. At $99 it seems to be the best value in terms of "bang for your buck". Second, It just strikes me as an interesting avenue to explore in terms of potential uses for the deice.

Cool to know Kingsoft is working on it. I use that on my tablet for work pretty often. I had been wondering if that would work properly. Thanks for the heads-up. As for the other purposes you mentioned testing, I don't even know what software is available for most of those tasks on the Android markets. You think there'd be more options now that the OS is starting to be seen a more of a home/mobile computing alternative.

I'll have to check out Onlive desktop. I'm also going to try coming up with a list of apps that fall under the "productivity" category and I'll post my findings here. It might take me a little while though as I'm in the process of getting an Ouya completely set up to run out of the box as a gift for a friend and I recently started playing Order & Chaos (very addictive).

No, though I will definitely add it to my list. Thanks for the suggestion.
