the chat box actually uses PHP and some HTML/javascript, just as the rest of the forums (PHP is an abomination of a lanugae, but that's neither here nor there). A sys admin who runs the server decides which version of PHP to install and with VB4, I have only really had luck with 5.1 or 5.2 (forget which one at the moment). Javascript and HTML are handled by the browser, so that isn't on the sys admin. With that said, it sounds like you have a browser issue of some kind: bug(s), bad extension/plugin, ect... It works for me on all three, mac windows and linux on the newest version of Google Chrome (haven't tried any other browsers), so I can confirm it is not a PHP issue, or else everyone would be seeing it.
