and the answer:

As I've stated on the subreddit before, although that was sometime ago...so you may have not seen it, we were getting complaints about the postings from Ouya Forums being deliberate advertising of the community.

This stems from a few points that other users of the subreddit have brought to my attention:

Many of the posts on Ouya Forums could just be made into self-posts on Reddit. (Users didn't like that they were being directed somewhere else to get the information, when it just could have easily been posted as a self post.)

Whenever a picture or attachment is involved, Ouya Forums requires the user to sign up before viewing them. (Again, this disgruntled users of the Subreddit as they could not see the content posted without first signing up for another Ouya community.)

Many of the posts are just a blurb about something, then a link to the source of that information. As such, users were finding that they would have to first click the link in the Subreddit, read what was in the Ouya Forum post, then find out that to get the full information on the matter they would have to click the source link there. (It would be much more user-friendly and better for our users here to just link to the source to begin with.)

In other words, most people enjoy Reddit because it cuts out the middle man for finding interesting news articles and content. All linking to Ouya Forums does is put that middle man back into the cycle.

Also, early on in the subreddit days there were many Ouya Forum users who would only post links to Ouya Forums. This is advertisement/spam and against the rules of Reddit, not just the Ouya Subreddit.

As such, the filter has been trained to disallow posts to Ouya Forums. At times, the filter misses things which is why you may see some post show up and then disappear once they are caught.

As alternatives, I encourage you to do the following when posting Ouya news.

Link to the source itself, not an Ouya Forum post linking there. (This will save our users time from having to first go to the Ouya Forum post, plus gives any hit/ad money to the true source.)

Post the information in the self post. (This saves our users time by not directing them off-site to get information that could have easily been posted here.)

Host the image on imgur and link to it there. (This will save users time and allow them to view the image without a requirement of signing up for a site they may not wish to sign up for.)

In the end, all of these things will make a better experience for our users and hopefully encourage more people to join us as we strive to make this community grow and flourish.

Thank you,

Indie
