I was not trying to be offensive when I said this. You can search through the hacks and mod section to find most of these things. Root basically gives you administrative control over your device. I do not think the play store mod would be easily done but as far as getting down and dirty it would be the place to start.
You can brick your system by gaining root access and accidently deleting files or changing options you shouldn't so be wary.
If you need help don't hesitate to ask.

Yeah, think I'll just stick to playing my games and roms for now
Don't wanna brick my system and knowing my luck that would happen. Not computer illiterate but I'm the type where I'll mess around before I check what I'm doing.
Will check out the hacks and mods section, never noticed it before! Thanks timmy.
I rooted mostly to use my NTFS formatted USB drive with the StickMount app. I use the system primarily as a media device with XBMC. It would only work as FAT32 before rooting.
I play around with ROMs on my Android phone, but custom ROMs on the Ouya seems a little too risky right now.
Hi. I just need to place an app.json file in the data/app directly (I think) to unlock a trial app because i purchased the pro version, but how? I did the "root my ouya". Whats the right root browser for Ouya? Or even better, get Google Play to work on my Ouya. Help...Thanks!
