Thread: Rumble feature

    Rumble feature

Is rumble in third party controllers possible on the Ouya? I haven't seen it in any games using ps3 dualshock but was wondering if it was just because no one implemented it or if it isn't possible. Would be nice for some games like dub wars or any music based game.

A great suggestion. And totally something I can see as being possible. I really hope if they release OUYA2 that they'll include ruble and/or start buttons. Really feels like a step back not to have these features that console gamers have been veaned on for the last 15 years or so/

Start/Select would be useful, but atm not necessary (essentially I see the OUYA controller as a Gamecube controller with an extra shoulder button, and the System button is the Start button)

Rumble, urgh. Only if I have the option to turn it off, please. I hate rumble.

I'm fine with rumble not being in the Ouya controllers I'd just like for it to be used occasionally when using a ps3 controller. Certain games I think it would go well with.

I think it all depends on the game, there are some that use the vibrate function on phones and tablets so I don't see why they couldn't port that over the rumble packs.

I think the main reason it was left out of the OUYA controller design is it would hinder customization. The controller and case for OUYA were meant to be easy to customize, I don't know if you ever took a controller apart but one of hardest things to not break or fit into a customization is the dam rumblers.

It would not hinder anything, have you seen how small the motors and weights are in cell phones, two of them would fit comfortably in the current controller, one with slightly more weight then the other. The rumble motors don't have to be the size of the ones in a 360 or PS3 controller.

maybe, maybe if they were some how mounted with the battery wires, the motors on those controller flop around everywhere and the wires are so easy to break it just so much more of a pain when customizing it, it doesn't fit in to the easzy customization that is already there, unless they implemented it good somehow.

Every rumble motor in a cellphone are surface mounted, there's plenty of free space in the controller, they would not have to change much (if at all) to add those to the controller, I've had my ouya controller apart a few times. I can point a few places to mount a few cellphone rumble motors on the bottom board without having to change the layout.
