Frame Drops after playing emulators for a while

    Greetings,

I'm using the Ouya mainly to play emulators.

I have been experiencing frame drops after about 10 minutes of play on all emulators. The issue doesn't go away until I restart the Ouya.

    Here are the symptoms:

    - After about 10 minutes of play, I start getting noticeable frame drops, and it keeps getting more frequent and severe the more I play.
    - I noticed that when I exit the emulator, it returns me to the emulators settings screen. I have to repeat that a few times before it gets me back to the Ouya's menu.
    - When I checked the apps settings, I noticed up to 650 MB of the system's ram is being used, although none of the listed running-up was taking more than 35 MB (their total would come to around 100 ~ 150 MB max)

I know of one more person who has the same issue with this his system. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Hmm, I use the .emu emulators and I have never had this problem.
The standard things to try on an Ouya is to turn it off, and back on again, via the top button (hold for a couple seconds then it will prompt you to turn it off), to clear the cache of the Ouya Launcher (Manage -> System -> Advanced -> Apps -> All -> scroll down to Ouya Launcher and then hit Clear Cache) and to make sure Destroy Programs On Exit is selected in the Developer Settings.

Try one or all of things to see if that clears up your problem.

    Thanks for the reply.

I've tried all the above, and the problem hasn't gone away. The RAM usage is still above 550 MB and the emulators start having slowdowns after a while.

Odd. I don't have my Ouya in front of me to check its idling RAM usage but I'll look when I get a chance. What emulators are you using?

The ones I'm using to test are Neo.emu and SNES9x. The easiest way to test is to go to level 1-1 in Yoshi's Island, and enter the first pipe. Then keep the game idle for about 5 ~ 10 minutes.:

In my case, I start having frame drops (can be noticed from the BGM as well) and the more I wait, the worse it gets. I try switching to Neo.emu and load Samurai Showdown 2, which would normally run perfectly, and test it, and I still get frame drops right away.

Also try to go to developer Options under Manage and set the process limit to 0 or 1.

Mine is the same way, I just did a factory reset and it takes 500mb of memory just to run, even though running apps says about 100mb.

I am wondering this myself, cause none of the running apps in the list add up to how much ram is being used. And the cache list is empty as well.

It almost sounds like a memory leak, on how performance degrades after so long, I have noticed this in xbmc as well, if I leave it running for a while it will usually crash out or have issues streaming or playing videos.

I've just tried that. The issue is still there. I've tried the NES emulator this time with Castlevania 3. Started to notice minor frame drops in stage 2.
