Awareness is part of fixing the problem.
The other systems, sticks, whatever will have more of a presence in the minds of people, in the media, etc.
They need to fix problems BEFORE holiday season if they want to move units.
No, $100,000 isn't so bad but that would barely get them in E3 if at all and then they would have spent their $100,000 budget for the year. I agree that awareness is part of the problem but that doesn't mean they can't do it on a low budget. I rather them spend it to have a presence at more places or ,even better, fix the problems with the console first.
They already tried to have a presence at GameStop and gain customers awareness at launch but GameStop handled it poorly. The console being in the store would have gained more awareness than a booth in the conference. This thread is the first time I have heard that GameStop even has conferences. Only people who care about that sort of thing knows about it and the people going probably know even more. So, they would know that OUYA has a presence even if they aren't in the building. In my opinion, being outside is more of a presence. Instead of blending in with hundreds of booths, they would be the first one everyone sees as they walk in. Also, people not going in would see them too.
Yes, they definitely need to fix problems before the holiday season. They also need to fix the problems before they solve their awareness problem. It may have actually been a good thing that GameStop, Target, and Best Buy did a horrible job making people aware at launch. With the problems the console has if it had a successful launch then the general public would know the issues that the OUYA has. For me the biggest issue is the limited storage space. I think that is a huge issue for a console that doesn't have discs. Other people have WIFI issues and so forth. This is a situation where a successful launch could have killed the system. Atari did a wonderful job at rushing E.T. and PAC-MAN out the door. They were actually two of their best selling games. They had no awareness problem but if they did maybe they would be showing off a console at GameStop's conference. OUYA needs to fix the problems with the console first then make the general public aware and hopefully that happens in time for the holidays. When we are all happy then that would be the time to make everyone else happy.

I don't get their strategy or lack of one lol
It is a play on this song but saying the opposite:
My interpretation has been that it will be televised because the OUYA plays on a TV and nothing to do with commercials and so forth. That's why it says,"AND SO BEGINS THE REVOLUTION." when you open the box. Also, the Free the Games slogan and the raised fist logo you see while viewing some games is referring to the revolution. I have interpreted the revolution to be taking the power from the "big boys" and giving it back to the gamers and indie developers. That's why these guerilla tactics make sense to me. It is giving the finger to The Man. I interpret the spirit of the console to be something like this
